(Dress: Topshop, Hat: ASOS, Necklace: Missoma)

It's anchors aweigh for 2017 and first up we're heading back to Australia, one place I certainly didn't expect to visit in 2016! For as long as I can remember it's been tucked away on my bucket list, almost written off as one of those 'unattainable' places to visit, with the lengthy flight time always knocking Joe and I (two pretty nervous flyers) at the first hurdle- but alas! We did it- and I'm so very excited to share the journey with you! Boarding time begins in 3, 2, 1...

Arriving in Sydney was a surreal experience. After leaving London at 9pm on a busy Friday evening, we pulled in to Sydney at 7am on the brightest of Spring Sundays, and were told we'd just missed last nights rain storm. Seeing Christmas trees with a backdrop of ocean blue at arrivals was one of the most surreal things- especially for a girl used to grey skied festivities, but soon enough we were on our way to our home for the next two evenings, Pier One Sydney.

Nestled just under the Harbour Bridge, Pier One was the perfect spot for a first introduction to the city. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the water, we tucked into fresh granola, house presses and yoghurt whilst we attempted to stay awake after our flight. After a few hours (which naturally felt like minutes), we headed out for one of the most beautiful experiences of the trip, a boat ride around the city by sunset- which suffice to say, made me feel like one of the luckiest people in the world.

Although the water was choppy and the winds gusty (never the perfect pairing if you've got hair as fine as mine), seeing the shards of the infamous opera house next to the sky turning from blue to pink, along with the waves lapping by our toes- everything felt somewhat dream like, and left us raring for some more serious exploration... After a big sleep of course!

  2. I would love to go to Australia one day, although I don't like flying either so that puts me off! My cousin went travelling there a couple of years ago and she's ended up living out there now permanently x

  16. I would LOVE to visit Australia. It is on my bucket list as well! One of my friends from college was living there for 6 months (and is actually moving back shortly) and did a blog while she was there. Her photographs and stories were incredible. She also RAVED about the coffee!

  18. These are such gorgeous photos Liv and I hope your trip to Oz was as lovely as it looks! I have been desperate to go to Australia ever since I was little, so I really need to get my act together and start saving for a trip. Also this dress looks gorgeous on you! I have the same one and wore it for my winter graduation, but reading this has definitely made me excited for styling it in summer too :) x

  30. Yaay! Finally we can find out what you guys were up to down there ;)
I've never been to Aussie myself, but my sister used to live there for 3-4 years (not in Sydney, though, in Melbourne). After watching The Michalaks' vlogs from there, I'm super psyched to see how you find the place!

Small thing: it's actually anchors aweigh, not anchors away. But I could be mistaken.
