...From a girl who didn't like smoothies...

Yup. This gal usually doesn't like smoothies *shock* *gasp* *horror*. I'm not one for a green juice (much to my dads dismay), and up until late last year had never really tried a smoothie either. Perhaps I was scared into the amount of ingredients in one drink (says the girl who loves Sprite... ho ho ho)- but after doing a HIIT class (another shocker there) was presented with a 'breakfast club' inspired smoothie and fell in love. Maybe it was because it tasted like, well, breakfast (or a bircher bowl), but this smoothie was a bit of a game changer, so naturally- I gave it a go myself, and would like to think this could be the start of something beautiful...

You will need:
- 1 Banana (I like to pre freeze this)
- 7 Strawberries
- 100ml Almond Milk
- 40g Oats
- 1 tsp honey

1. If you have time- pre freeze that 'nana! I tend to chop it up (I once made the rookie mistake of putting it in the freezer whole like a complete fool and realising I then couldn't slice it), and then pop it in an ice cube tray overnight. This saves adding extra ice or liquids to the smoothie, but again, it's not a problem if you'd rather do that!

2. Chop up your strawberries, and add all the ingredients together in a blender. This is quite a thick smoothie (as it's a breakfast one- it's meant to be super filling) but if you want to loosen the consistency, you can add in a few ice cubes or some more milk too.

Let me know how you get on, and of course if you try this yourself please snap me a picture and use the hashtag #BakeWithLiv- I'd love to see!

  4. Oh man, this sounds heavenly! If you are now a smoothie convert, I think you will LOVE 'nice' cream aka banana ice-cream simply made by blitzing up frozen bananas (I add a splash of milk too). It is delicious and you can have so much fun chucking on toppings.

  5. I've totally hopped on the Almond Milk bandwagon since regular milk used to break me out (seriously try not drinking regular milk for a week and see how your skin improves) and I totally need to try this recipe!! Such easy ingredients!

  18. I make very similar smoothies a lot, it is so filling! And sometimes if I want to be extra healthy I add some kale haha. It turns green but the taste is pretty much the same.

  19. When you say to put the banana in an ice cube tray, do you mean to just place the slices in the tray or to add water with them? Like you're making banana ice cubes?

    1. Just place the slices in the tray! You could definitely add water too (which would make the smoothie looser)- but I just use the tray! I didn't make it very clear, sorry! x

  23. I make one just like this but I use greek yoghurt, kale and blueberries instead of oats - the kale kinda ruins the lovely pink colour but you don't even taste it x

  35. Smoothies are fab! You can make 'nicecream' too - frozen bananas (+ any other frozen fruit) and it makes a soft-serve/sorbet texture. Delicious in a bowl with granola/chia seed/coconut strips! I'm vegan and have that for breakfast most mornings. :)
