(Jumper: Topshop, Jacket: Oh My Love, Skirt: ASOS, Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company, Brogues: Russell & Bromley)

Snapping on a ridiculously cold afternoon last week, Joe and I pulled up to a little street we always seem to stumble across near Charlotte Place for some 'lets-get-this-done-really-quickly' photos whilst trying to beat the chill. I'd tried to dress in something that would be appropriate for the day I had of meetings to evening events- and although everyone at the event wore black (and looked ridiculously sassy and sophisticated), I think this was a nice balance of smart and playful (although let's face it, I could have done with a thermal vest or two)...

Now, if there's one thing I've learnt this winter (apart from the fact my phone seems to turn off at about 30% battery when it gets really cold)- it's that double coat layering is a thing, and it's great (meaning I can simply whip off a layer and get 'all mod' in minutes- huzzah)! I've also tried to be a little more savvy when it comes to transitioning pieces in my wardrobe from late last summer until now- and finally trying to combat the 'white dress/black tights' fear I seem to have- and prove that yes, you can in fact wear something light with darker tights and it's absolutely a-ok (and doesn't look too sixties-fancy-dress either)!

  46. I love the pop of colour the skirt adds to the outfit. Plus there's something about blue bags that I'm just drawn to, I have a periwinkle blue one and it makes just enough of a statement to finish off an outfit, but not so much that it's like "wow that doesn't go".
