After arriving into New York on Wednesday morning, strolling around Soho in the late afternoon sunshine, doing a bit of shopping (Madewell happened, and oh please will they come to the U.K) and then retreating to the hotel with a big old takeaway pizza (read: my idea of total heaven)- Joe and I set off relatively bright and early (oh hiya, jet lag) for a day in Brooklyn- an area we'd only briefly visited during our last visit, but loved nonetheless!

With a plan of walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and an afternoon on Coney Island on the agenda, we sadly weren't blessed with the blue skies of the previous day- but the cooler temperature (and, ahem, cool drizzle) meant it was suitably refreshing for a day on our feet. After trekking across the bridge (and stopping for numerous tourist photos), Joe and I headed across to Dumbo, after putting it near the top of our 'to visit' list whilst across the river. After getting distracted by a stationary shop fuelled by Pinterest goodness and Rifle Paper Co. (which will of course be in a guide coming up), we snapped some pictures (with this River Island dress equating to 'inbetweeny weather dress of dreams, and these Office bad boys being so damn comfy) before hot footing our way to the subway and making tracks to Coney Island (to be continued in my next post, dun dun duuuun)...

New York is undoubtedly my happy place. If I had to live anywhere other than London (because girl, you my numero uno) it'd be the Big Apple. There's something so totally magical about driving over to Manhattan from JFK in a yellow taxi (even if my legs always get stuck to the funny leather seats), the towering skyscrapers against a scorching blue backdrop, heck, even the police offers with donuts at airport security made me get all excited and silly- 'IT'S LIKE BEING IN A FILM!' (I must've shouted at least 100 times). Anyway- this past month I've been bloody lucky enough to visit New York two times, one for work and one which Joe and I booked in a post-tax-return blur of the B.A sale in January (always a smart idea, folks). Anyway- today I'm talking about my first trip, with Keds a few weeks ago! Myself and the gorgeous (and ruddy lovely) Ashley James, flew out to celebrate Keds ambassadorTaylor Swift's world tour- which in short, sounded like a match made in heaven.

Now, it's only recently that I've become a full Keds convert, but my goodness- they are comfortable (they were the first ever 'sneaker' invented, so, y'know- they got this you guys). They go with absolutely everything, and pretty much feel like wearing nothing at all (put it this way- if this girl can wear them for a 12 hour day and not bat an eyelid- they get serious kudos). They were a pump of choice for a certain Ms. Hepburn and Monroe, Yoko Ono married John Lennon in a pair- and mega babe Kelly from Saved by the Bell (as well as 'Baby' in Dirty Dancing) also kept them as a trainer of choice- come on, if they're good enough for Audrey, they're good enough for me! Plus, they made for the perfect shoe to pair with a light vintage number for a day of exploring NYC, not bad at all! Stay tuned for plenty plenty more NY goodness from my most recent trip, and a vlog too- huzzah!

Although I'm not to usually go overboard with long posts, this one is definitely one of the 'grab a cuppa ones' and properly sit down with, so I hope you're comfy- and lets' get going to Osea...

So, a couple of weeks ago I headed across to Essex to the private, and absolutely stunning Osea Island with Next and a handful of some of my favourite blogging ladies (really, they're a big old bunch of babes). Situated a in a little place called Witham, across a winding causeway (which, coincidentally was also used for the Woman in Black- eery) the island was every bit as beautiful as a bit of dab-handed Googling suggested, as we settled in to our nautical Captain's House lodge for the day, unpacked- and got exploring! First on our agenda was a cooking class with the wonderful ladies at Spook. With a healthy and delicious menu of chicken, asparagus, sweet potato, broccoli and a raw banoffee pie and chocolate cake- we were truly spoilt for choice and all chipped in putting together quite a spread (even if mine and Kbel's chips weren't quite up to scratch!

The afternoon was spent meandering around the hidden paths of Osea, stopping to gawp at the views ('blue sky?! In England?! REALLY?!), do a bit of pigeon rescuing (which I'm sure you'll be able to see in one of Kristabel's vlogs), a spot of sunbathing (even if I was wrapped in a towel due to the sea breeze)- and of course finishing with a dash of afternoon tea, because hey, we are British y'know...

The evening at Osea was spent with dinner and a challenge of Murder Mystery- because, why not!? I've never actually done anything like it before (apart from unleashing my competitive streak during family games of Cluedo), and it was one of the funniest (y'know, minus the murder) things I've done, especially as our team may have won- not that I'll mention it again ; )! Post crime solving celebrations aside, we all crawled in to our pjs and spent the evening cosied up (with obligatory girlie 'blogger' chats thrown in for good measure too, of course)...

Anyway! The clothes! For the trip I packed this beachy off-the-shoulder bohemian number, which was perfect for a day of floating about (although I was a super-cautious-Susan and had denim shorts on too) and relaxing. Paired with arguably one of the comfiest pairs of sandals and a bag which my mum is now after- it made for the perfect get-up for an overnight stay cation in the sun, delightful!

Off to Osea...

Lurpak Freestyle What Olivia Did
(To do: Rosemary foccacia, mozzarella, plum tomato, Parma ham, fresh basil and a dash of olive oil)

In celebration of Freestyle Food Month...

...I've teamed up with the lovely people at Lurpak to create four easy, delicious and so, so simple lunch ideas that are perfect for throwing together with a few seasonal ingredients. Not bad huh?

Lurpak Freestyle What Olivia Did
(To do: Roasted pepper, tomato, garlic and red onion, feta, olive oil, pesto on a seeded slice)

But what is freestyle food month I hear you cry?! Am I supposed to juggle ingredients in a spontaneous act of dance?! Absolutely not! The campaign is all about incorporating fresh, seasonal ingredients into lunches that needn't be overly testing, time consuming or fiddly. It's all about proving that you can put together and experiment with some really delicious combinations and still have time to enjoy the sunshine. There are no rules, strict recipes, just delicious flavour ideas which are perfect for adapting and making your own too. So whether you've got a stack of bagels, some healthy rice-cakes or even some fresh foccacia- everything is lunch time ready (if that's even a thing).

Lurpak Freestyle What Olivia Did
(To do: Roasted sweet potato, pomegranate, crumbled goats cheese on a slice of wholemeal)

I'll be sharing my creations over on Instagram (and trying to get flat-lay fancy), and would love for you guys to do the same too (there's no better way of getting lunch ideas either)! I have ten Lurpak x The Original Supper Box Co hampers to give away (yup, this means delicious healthy dinners sorted too), so simply tag me and hashtag #FreestyleFood so I can see all of our creations, and I'll pick some winners!

Lurpak Freestyle What Olivia Did

(Post in collaboration with Lurpak, but love for kitchen creativity, bloody good butter and seasonal loveliness all my own
