On the twelfth day of Giftmas it was all about... stocking fillers!

So to wrap up twelve days of gift ideas (which I hope you’ve enjoyed), I’m wrapping things up (pun, once again, absolutely intended) with some stocking fillers!

(Laura Mericier Travel Brushes, Simple Wipes, & Other Stories Make Up, Topshop Lip Bullets, Cath Kidston Mug, Olivia Palermo Nails, Paul and Joe set)

From these inc-redible Laura Mercier travel brushes (a little more pricey, but whose saying these have to be exclusively for yer stockin’), limited edition Simple wipes (because everyone will always need ‘em), a little special seasonal offering from Topshop, some dreamy Olivia Palermo nail polishes (more than just beautiful initials ; ), another kitty Paul and Joe set, an exceptionally festive Cath Kidston mug and finally a little nod to the amazing beauty collection from & Other Stories- perfect for someone that’s yet to discover some seriously brilliant products.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this years guide as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it, and hopefully it can inspire some of your Christmas shopping this year! I know this doesn’t cover all bases, but maybe next year I’ll do a whole gift buying pre-Christmas advent (…or not)! Happy Shopping, and as of tomorrow- HAPPY DECEMBER! (Put on Smooth Christmas radio to celebrate)!

Day 12 of Giftmas: Stocking Fillers

On the eleventh day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your interior/artsy/indie brand loving pals (what a niche)!

Whether this person has just moved home, loves a bit of DIY and Pinspiration, or just scouring Etsy for the cutest new indie brands, then hopefully this little selection will inspire you!

(My Little Creative Box, Rosie Wonders, Graphic Design Book, Dot Creates, West Elm)

Firstly, the subscription box. My Little Creative Box is this months offering from My Little Box (which has new monthly themes), and would make for the perfect pick me up gift for the girl in need of a little inspiration (and a little surprise every month)! On top of that I also included this dinky print from Dot Creates, some gorgeous iron on patches and pad from Rosie Wonders (she also has amazing wash off tattoos which are seriously awesome), the coffee table book of serious graphic inspiration as well as another interior pick from West Elm (whose cushions are seriously cost friendly and lovely to boot ).

Come back tomorrow the last day of my Giftmas guide!

Day 11 of Giftmas: The DIY/Lifestyle/Etsy Lover

On the tenth day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your beauty loving pals!

I have a lot of beauty loving friends, and sometimes working out their tastes, what they have and what they’ve yet to discover can be a bit of a tricky game (damn you, internets)! But after scouring the net (and some ‘new in’ favourites) I’ve picked a wee selection I know I’d be thrilled to see under the tree.

(Maggs London Brush Case, Sali Hughes Pretty Honest, Lush Christmas, Clinique Lipsticks, Estée Lalonde x Bodyshop Nails, Paul and Joe Beauty Set, Laura Mercier Trio)

This of course includes my dear friend Hannah’s new gorgeous make-up brush holder, Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes (which I couldn’t put down and still peek back to for beauty references), a seven days of lipsticks from Clinique (such a cute idea!), Estée's amazing nail art collaboration with the Body Shop (with each kit sold, a donation will be made to WaterAid too, which is incredible), a Paul and Joe beauty set (their make up bags are second to none), a palette from the limited edition Laura Mercier Christmas 2015 offering (which is pretty outstanding, packaging included)- as well as a little bitta Lush, because when in doubt, remember, everyone loves a bubble bar (and Snow Fairy, always Snow Fairy).

Come back tomorrow for Day 11 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 10 of Giftmas: The Beauty Lover

On the ninth day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your foodie friends!

Need some ideas for the hostess with the mostess or the foodie that lives for a dinner flat lay? Look no further hungry people!

(Ask Mummy and Daddy Sweet Platter, Nopi Cookbook, Oliver Bonas Glasses, West Elm Plates, Biscuiteers Biscuits)

Whether you’re looking for a wonderfully inspiring cookbook (check, Nopi, check), something more novelty but equally sweet (check, Sushi sweet platter, check), some festive party dinnerware (how adorable are these plates from West Elm and glasses from Oliver Bonas?) Or even a small (tasty) token from Biscuiteers- here’s a few ideas to get your teeth into (*insert ‘festive joke of the day’ horn here*)! Another suggestion would also be booking a cooking class at somewhere like Food at 52, who specialize in a huge selection of cuisine and make even the most impressive of dishes simple from everyone for beginners to seasoned chefs- tuck in!

Come back tomorrow for Day 10 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 9 of Giftmas: Foodie Friends

On the eighth day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your dog...ahem!

Because I am a bit of a mad dog lady it's officially ok for one of the parts of this guide to be dedicated to my favourite 4 legged friend, right, RIGHT? Ok. Cool.

(The Favourite Squirrel, Mungo & Maud Collar, Biscuiteers Dog Biscuits, Pooch & Mutt Biscuits, Mungo & Maud Bone)

This is definitely more 'what to buy your dog' than the dog lover- but seeing as I spend just as much time considering what to buy Maggie as I do anyone else in my family, this is perfectly acceptable. Whether it's popping into Sainsburys to buy your dog toy that they'll love more than anything (read: this squirrel), indulging in a special new collar and toy from a gorgeous brand (the perfect treat for someone with a pet) or even some stocking filling biscuits (the Biscuiteers ones are 100% natural and delicious, and Pooch and Mutt are great for on the go)- there's lots to choose from (and if you're anything like me with a pup, it'll be hard to not seriously spoil them)!

Come back tomorrow for Day 9 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 8 of Giftmas: The Dog Lover

On the seventh day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your colleagues!

Whether you're buying for Sally from HR in a Secret Santa, or one of your blogging pals- I'd like to think today's guide for colleagues has a little suggestion for everyone (and is relatively purse friendly too)!

(Nuxe Cracker, Oliver Bonas Mug, Travel Wallet, Bloggers Planner, Cowshed Set)

Both Nuxe and Cowshed have gorgeous festive gift sets starting from £10, and this glitzy mug from Oliver Bonas is one way of making your desk a more glamorous place to be during the week. If you're thinking of splashing out a little more (perhaps it's for your workie BFFL) this travel wallet from Oliver Bonas is pretty much a holiday staple, and of course- if one of your workmates is a blogger (or juggles a blog with another job), then this personalised blogging journal is a great way of helping keep them on track and their ideas in one place!

Come back tomorrow for Day 8 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 7 of Giftmas: Colleagues

On the sixth day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your grandparents!

Whether you're looking to spoil your grandparents this Christmas (a Fortnum's hamper will always do the trick) or keep things a little more low-key, I definitely have a few ideas!

(Fortnum & Mason Hamper, The White Company Picture Frame, Cheese Knives, Theatre Tickets, Jo Malone Bath Salts, White Company Slippers)

...with something like these scent-sational bath salts (pun absolutely intended) or cheese knives from Oliver Bonas- I've picked a few of my favourite Christmas gift ideas for your grandparents. One of my favourite suggestions (aside from popping a family picture in a gorgeous frame, or indulging in these cosy slippers) is picking up some theatre tickets for a local, or London show- the perfect excuse to pop something exciting on the calendar and vanish away any January blues!

Come back tomorrow for Day 7 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 6 of Giftmas: Grandparents

On the fifth day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your dad!

Here's something I've learnt over the years: most good Christmas presents start with Alan Partridge. Obviously it's not a surefire fact, but I'm fairly certain if I ever buy my dad something featuring the Coogz, it'll go down a treat...

(Cheesy Jokes, Alan Partridge Book, Where Chefs Eat, Spotify Premium, Mug, Marc Jacobs Bang Bang, Phone Case)

...On top of that, the same applies to nice aftershave (Marc Jacobs was picked at random out of a selection, but Papa P is a fan), some cool tech cases (this phone case from Etsy has a built in card holder)- and of course hilariously bad jokes packed into a cheesy box (hohoho)! Alternatively, you could always get your dad a subscription to something monthly- be it Spotify Premium (I did this on fathers day, and it's had a lot of use) or even something like a Now TV box or Netflix subscription too! Obviously if in doubt, there's always a mug- and this 'Sawdust Is Man Glitter' one gets huge kudos from me.

Come back tomorrow for Day 6 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 5 of Giftmas: Dad

On the forth day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your mum!

If there's one thing about these gift guides you should know- it's that they won't appeal to everyone, obviously. Everybody has different tastes, interests and likes- and if they appealed to every boyfriend, sister, mum or cousin in the world- even I'd be very impressed with me!

(The White Company PJS, Holistic Silk Eye Mask, West Elm Terrarium, Jo Malone Candle, Elemis Skin Set)

...Saying that, I like to think there's a nice (albeit small) selection that you could maybe take inspiration from- especially like some of these picks I've selected for mama's out there! Firstly, if in doubt- PJs. There is nothing nicer than putting on some new PJs (especially after a Christmas dinner) and these ones from The White Company tick all my festive boxes (cosy + stars = good). I've also included the dreamiest sleep mask (perfect if your mum's as busy as mine), the if-in-doubt luxury candle, a dreamy skincare set from one of my favourite beauty brands, and finally this terrarium from West Elm- which is perfect for everything from plants to candles, and will certainly snazz up the home!

Come back tomorrow for Day 5 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 4 of Giftmas: Mum

On the third day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for your girlfriend!

Picking up gifts for your girlfriend can be hard- what if you've been together for a couple of months? What is too much of a fancy gesture (ahem, nothing, ahem)?

(Anna + Nina Jewellery, Chupi Ring, Reiss Nails, Cambridge Satchel Bag, West Elm XOXO, Boden Shoes, Kate Spade Candle)

...I've picked out a selection of everything from special jewellery pieces (Anna + Nina have some beautiful and fun engraved bits, and Chupi do amazing 'is-it-costume-jewellery?-It-CAN'T-be!' pieces), some absolutely failsafe beauty buys (I received some Burberry beauty from Joe last year and I was over the moon, plus the Reiss set is only £20), a bag that will melt any girls heart (and makes for a pretty unforgettable Christmas pressie), plus some ultimate party shoes from Boden and a couple of home ware favourites from West Elm and Kate Spade- perfect for the girl who has everything (and loves a cheeky Instagram snap)!

Come back tomorrow for Day 4 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 3 of Giftmas: Girlfriend

On the second day of Giftmas it was all about... buying for boys!

Admittedly, I've been known to struggle when it comes to buying for the opposite sex, especially Joe! I'm certainly not always the easiest person to buy for, but being able to pick out pieces that he'd love (especially as he's got such a strong sense of personal style)- can sometimes be tricky...

(Reiss Hat, Reiss Knit, Vinyl, Gig Tickets, Tom Ford Grooming, Reiss Grooming)

...but, after selecting these items, I was thrilled to know Joe loved them all- making me think I may have sussed it. With good staple knits being a complete fail safe (I'm in love with the selection from Reiss- beanies included), 'smellies' and aftershaves being a go to (both Tom Ford and Reiss again have amazing ranges, with gift sets beginning from £20)- there's so much to pick from. I've also turned to gig tickets on many an occasion as I know Joe forgets to pick tickets up for bands he loves, and if music's his thing, picking up some sentimental and favourite vinyls is always a good shout!

Come back tomorrow for Day 3 of my Giftmas guide!

Day 2 of Giftmas: Boyfriend

But minus the gold rings, French hens, turtle doves and more traditional things...

This year I thought I'd give gift-guiding a go, but properly! Curating a selection of items in the 12 days lead up to the beginning of December (read: where panic buying truly begins), I wanted to get in there early (ish) with some of my favourite picks from this years high street offerings, before everything flew out of stock! So, over the next twelve days you can expect twelve daily posts fitted with all of my favourite flat-layed things, with image clickable links (and everything below too- in case things aren't always working)- to make things super easy to navigate! I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed putting this together, and hopefully it will inspire some of this years gifting- plus by the time these posts are over it'll be OFFICIALLY ADVENT! Huzzah! Happy shopping!

Day 1 of Giftmas: The Best Friend
(Sketch Afternoon Tea, One Line A Day, Personalised Phone Case, Kikki K Stationary, Personalised Stationary, Kate Spade Book)

I always think buying for my best girl friends is one of the most fun things in the world (read: I normally buy them things I myself would like. Ahem). This year I've tried to mix things up a little, and as well as including some more purse friendly picks (the Skinny Dip phone case is one of my faves, and the Kikki K stationary is absolutely adorable) have included 'experiences' such as my favourite London afternoon tea, a diary they can begin as the New Year starts (and record all their favourite memories and feels), a book from everyone's favourite brand (and coincidentally something my best friend got me last Christmas) and finally some super special personalised stationary (a gift that is absolutely gorgeous, and something someone possibly wouldn't treat themselves to)!

Join me tomorrow for Day 2 of my guide! Same time, same place! See you there?

Twelve Days Of Giftmas!

~ Insert party popper emoji here ~

Well hello there! Isn't this exciting? After 5 years of nattered words, over 900 posts and far too many tweets than I can wrap my tiny head around, this blog is back with a bit of a spruce up- a What Olivia Did 2.0 if you like, and let's all face it- it was long overdue. Having last updated my layout 4 years ago and grown quite attached to it's little illustrations and quirky ways (if it ain't broke don't fix it)- I was deliberating giving things a spruce up, but was set on finding the right person to guide me to something a little more up to date (but equally still 'me'). On New Years Eve last year, after endless scouring, jotting down names and the like, I came across the work of Lauren, a graphic designer based across the pond whose work instantly had me at hello. We discussed ideas over Skype calls with tea and after months of back-and-forth emails, colour pallets, rearranging and tinkering- here we are. Lauren kindly set me up with coding extraordinaire Chaitra, and with her patience and skills she made all the designs and ideas a reality, which I can't thank them both enough for. Obviously to keep things playful, I had to include some more illustrations from my favourite Emma- and if you have a nosey about the pages you'll find her work hiding (and incorporated in some interactive maps too- so you can browse all of my travel archives too)!

So, what's next for W.O.D? (Sounds fancy when it's just initials, doesn't it)? With a new layout brings new content ideas (and yes, a font you can all finally see and read), there will be more recipes, interviews and the like (but obviously let me know if there's anything more you want to see)- and the thing I'm most excited about, new weekly YouTube videos! I've been working on getting things a little more organised, and I'm finally going to give this video malarky a proper go- hurrah! Click over to my channel here in time for this Sundays video if you fancy!

Finally- if you stay tuned, in the next couple of weeks there's going to be a big 'new layout' celebratory giveaway with one of my favourite ever brands, Kate Spade- so keep your eyes peeled for that too! I promise it's a good 'un!

Thank you all again for your endless reading, clicking and support over the last 5 years, I can't say how thankful I am for every tweet, comment and number that shows someone has come by this page- and I honestly couldn't have done this without you (GUSH)- you guys are the absolute bee's knees. LOVE YOU LOTS- and here's to the next 5!

5 Years of What Olivia Did

Jumper: Sandro, Shirt: Zara, Bag: C/O Chloe via FarFetch, Belt: Vintage, Jeans: American Eagle, Shoes: C/O Charlotte Olympia via FarFetch)

Photos by Joe Galvin

Let's be honest- this post should have been called 50 Shades of Pink- and I'm absolutely happy about that. With this winters wardrobe boasting a number of sugary pastels opposed to my standard Autumnal leafy burgundies and beiges- it's a refreshing take on winter dressing for me, and certainly means I have a little more fun with my wardrobe (even if that doesn't always mean it's easy to match my surroundings ; )! In addition to my layered summer shades (this blouse came straight from Mama P's wardrobe), I'd also like to introduce you to a couple of new additions to my wardrobe, as part of a super exciting collaboration with FarFetch...

Now, when it comes to designer items- I tend to chose my picks very carefully. I'm not one to necessarily follow trends, and certainly can't afford to indulge in the latest 'it' item as and when it lands- so being considered, as well as finding the balance of my love of things a little novelty and playful- can be a little tricky if I want things to have longevity. But queue these Mid-Century kitty flats and a bag I'm sure you're all too familiar with, the Chloe Drew- two pieces I'm excited to play with for seasons to come.

I'm already a huuuge Charlotte Olympia fan, so adding a pair of more neutral flats to my collection of hers was extremely exciting- plus I know these will be amazing with pale denim in the summer, and light dresses when (lol, if) the weather warms a little. For now these shoes make for the perfect 'ballet flat' alternative, with the pointed toe making them a little more special and more 'evening' for the festive season- and paired with this little disco-inspired bag (because gold is a neutral, right? RIGHT?) I felt fully set for the countdown to Christmas- and can't wait to pair this dinky bag with some favourite simple dresses and striped numbers for day to night dressing. See you on tha dancefloor!

Post in collaboration with FarFetch, but love of discos, shiny objects and the colour pink all my own

Pink & Gold

House of Elemis:

Do you ever visit somewhere, and leave thinking 'why on earth have I never been before?!' Well that's exactly how I felt upon leaving the House of Elemis (as well as totally, unapologetically relaxed, of course). Tucked away in London's bustling Mayfair, the townhouse features everything from a heavenly Elemis shop (with all of the products), a rapid Speed Spa (for if you're fancying a 15 or 30 minute lunch-time treatment- yup, these do exist)- and luxury wind-down Penthouse, for something a little more special (think of it as your own personal private spa- dreamy). It's the perfect way to unwind at the end of a busy week, and since visiting for a deep tissue massage following a HIIT session, I'm determined to make it a monthly treat too!

No. 11 Cadogan Gardens:

Tucked away around the back of Sloane Square lies the hidden gem that is No. 11 Cadogan Gardens, a rather regal London townhouse hotel, and host to one seriously delightful afternoon tea. At £22 pp, this tea is certainly a snip in comparison with some of its other London counterparts, but huddled away in one of the city's most luxurious areas (and with it served in one of the most decadent lounges I've visited)- it's certainly not lacking in quality! With everything from endless finger sandwiches, delicious scones and even a mini creme brûlée, it's the perfect treat after some Christmas shopping on the Kings Road. Just don't fall asleep in the arm chairs! ; )

11 Cadogan Gardens, London SW3 2RJ

Egg Break:

Eggbreak is a new opening from the people behind Soho House, and situated in Notting Hill is the perfect pit-stop for a day of West London exploring. With a pretty self explanatory menu (the clue's in the name, kids)- Eggbreak oozes a menu full of delicious egg based dishes (everything from creamy carbonara, to fried chicken burgers to classic poached with avocado and scrambled numbers)- there's plenty to chose from. On top of that, the desert menu is pretty special too (and I've also heard great things about their cocktails)- definitely worth a visit!

London Loves #7

(Top: Zara, Trousers: Zara, Bag: Reiss, Shoes: H&M)

Photos by Joe Galvin

To me, the trouser co-ord is the modern day power suit, the Karen Brady of the two piece world- and the ultimate nod to twenty first century power dressing- and isn't it amazing how an outfit can effect your mood and (pardon the phrase) 'bring the sass'? Working from home I rarely have the opportunity to embrace suit dressing (if I manage to make it out of my PJS, that's a business day at home)- but putting something on you feel confident in (and a slick of red lipstick, naturally)- can sometimes make you feel like you can take on the world (or, ahem, the Northern Line).

I spotted this set in Zara a couple of weeks ago, and after much deliberation (and little persuasion from Mama P)- it was in one of their navy paper bags, and I was out of the door. Not only was I sold on it's versatility (how cool will these trousers look with a white blouse and neckerchief?), the fact it makes me feel like Cathy McGowan in the '60s- but the fact they ooze a kind of Veronica Corningstone anchorman kick-flare cool had me at hello, plus any added confidence is always a good thing, right? Now just to tackle my emails in this get up!
