The White House Brighton What Olivia Did
Surprisingly (especially not being a Brighton resident...yet), one thing I get asked a lot is where is good to stay in this special seaside city. Ever since Joe and I first got together six years ago, Brighton has been our choice of staycation- choosing to spend weekends, Valentine's and trips to The Great Escape cozied up in this hub of culture, food and all things bloody fabulous. So- to make things a little easier around here, I thought I'd put together a guide of four of my favourite places that I've stayed in the city (including a few that I haven't, but have heard lots about) if any of you plan on heading to the South coast this year too!

The White House: 6 Bedford Street

This place is one of the first B&B's I visited in Brighton, and having recently renovated, I'm even more in love with it now, than I was when I visited five years ago (which is a lot). A little walk from the centre of the city (but happily perched a stones throw away from the seafront- yup, some rooms have sea views)- The White House is home to ten beautiful modern bedrooms, some with Parisien style balconies (all kitted out with Orla Kiely)- but all immaculately designed (perfect for any Pinterest lovers out there). Plus, with small double rooms starting at £65; it's pretty damn reasonable too- and you get an amazing home cooked breakfast in the morning- who can say no?

Sophie's House: Air BnB
Air BnB Brighton What Olivia Did Air BnB Brighton What Olivia Did Air BnB Brighton What Olivia Did Air BnB Brighton What Olivia Did
Last year was the first time Joe and I had ever tried Air BnB, and after discovering this beautiful property a few weeks before our trip, we became very excited. Although there are tonnes of beautiful places on Air BnB (perfect for all budgets), we stayed at Sophie's place- and felt completely spoilt by the cosy Scandi inspired decor, shelves of reading material, fridge filled with fresh Croissants and bubbles and fantastic location for everything we needed to get to. Sophie was the perfect, welcoming host- and definitely left us thrilled with our first Air BnB experience.

P.S If you follow this link and sign up for an Air BnB booking, you get £16 off of your stay too, code if needed is 'opurvis'!

Snooze: 25 St George's Terrace
Snooze Brighton What Olivia Did Snooze Brighton What Olivia Did
Another independent favourite- Snooze is probably the cheekiest (and quirkiest) B&B in town; with each room telling a story in itself and attention to detail being second to none (trust me, you'll be hard pushed to not spend your entire stay on Instagram). Although the bathrooms are a little cosy (not a problem, just part of the fact most Brighton BnB's are part of beautiful terrace houses), each room is packed with flea market prints and finds (as well as basic amenities), and the Snooze breakfast room is possibly one of the coolest places I've ever eaten a bowl of cornflakes. Fact.

Hotel Du Vin: 2 Ship Street
Hotel Du Vin Brighton What Olivia Did Hotel Du Vin Brighton What Olivia Did
Hotel Du Vin is definitely more of a grown up 'treat' place to stay. Having visited last Valentine's, we found ourselves central to everything in the middle of the Lanes, cozied up on a chilly Februrary evening in a modern yet classic 'shabby chic' style bedroom- a stones throw away from the sea (possibly literally if you have a good aim)- and greeted by what Joe describes as 'the best hotel breakfast hex's ever had'- which is saying something. Although it's certainly more of an indulgence, it's certain somewhere to consider for special occasions, as we certainly felt pretty special staying here!

Gerry's Place - Air BnB
Gerry's Brighton Gerry's Place Gerry's Place 2
During our stay in Brighton last month, Joe and I were determined to find somewhere perfectly central, cosy and homely for our couple of days- all whilst being in budget and not breaking the bank. Cue Gerry's place- a room situated in the very centre of Brighton, a stones throw away from the station and the sea- and the perfect hub for a few days of exploring. Although it's easy to be out off by not having a whole place, the bedroom, garden and bathroom are all on one floor- and Gerry was the perfect host (and had the balance of leaving us to our own devices but being there if we needed anything absolutely spot on). We couldn't have asked for a more perfect holiday spot- and I wholly recommend looking into his gorgeous home if you're planning a stay too (use this link to get £16 off of your first visit, too)!

Artists Residence: 33 Regency Square

There are a lot of things that make the Artists Residence somewhere not to miss when staying in Brighton. If you're a foodie it might be the breakfast pancakes, the bolognese fries and the mac 'n' cheese fries that grace the menu downstairs, if you like a fancy tipple it might be the secret cocktail bar- or y'know, if you just want somewhere highly Instagrammable, it could be one of 23 individually designed bedrooms (by local artists no less) that overlook the sea, and boast everything from freestanding baths, #Ihavethisthingwithfloors-esque tiles and bloody wonderful beds. All in all- it's a safe bet, and being only a ten minute walk (if that) from the city centre, it's in a perfect spot too, huzzah!

Other good 'uns that I've heard are worth staying the night for...
