(Hat: ASOS, Coat: Topshop similar here, Dress: Reformation, Bag: Lulu Guinness, Boots: Office)

Winter is always tricky to dress for. You can style a whole look or outfit- channel a whole era or mood, and the ultimate component will always come down to the coat that'll soon disguise everything going on underneath. This probably explains why this year I've fallen head-over-heels in love with bloody coats. The one thing that consumes more wardrobe space than anything ever (here's to sheer blouses, and slip dresses in Spring) and one thing I seem to be drawn to in shops from the months of September-March (and are usually most denting to my bank balance, too)...

Now, this coat is definitely a Marmite coat. You have to be feeling a certain way (read: like a certain seventies glam-rock star) to feel confident enough to wear it, and it's only now designers like Shrimps are doing their faux-fur thang that I feel it's socially ok to bring my dip-dyed yeti number to the forefront of my wardrobe once again after it sitting pretty at the back for a good 12 or so months. I'm still not brave enough to pair it with anything other than black, but if any of you have any posts styling something Gorilla-or-Yeti inspired (which doesn't sound odd in the slightest- coats only please) I'd love to see to help lure me out of my safe faux-fur ways!

  1. What are you on about, there is no marmite in this coat but pure hot chocolate (says the girl who's allergic to sugar, but the point is EVERYONE LIKES IT)! Do I need to tell you that, as always, you look stunning, or is that a given? Anyway, miss you, miss you alot. Know we're both busy, but... soon?

  2. That jacket is fantastic, it must keep you so cosy too! I for one love the 70s glam rock thing, think I might have to find my own Yeti jacket so I can channel those vibes..

  3. You are ALWAYS flawless! I too, own loads of coats- my mum is now getting annoyed as I own so many (around 20 to be exact!) but I just can't help myself! And none of them are practical for winter... they're not waterproof or anything. The problems of being a fashion addict haha x

  6. That coat is b-e-a-u-tiful and makes London look almost cosy! I got one similar in the Boxing day sales (YES!) in a light pink, but haven't been brave enough to wear it out yet. I'll definitely be taking some inspiration from this post now! Thanks!

  10. I get why you've only paired this coat with black, it really just makes the coat the highlight of the outfit. I probably would've styled it in the same way. Lovely photos by the way! x
