Beauty Favourites 2015 What Olivia Did
So, another beauty post has been a long time coming over on these parts hasn't it? Considering I'm a huge lover of all things warpaint, skin care and make-up- it seems a little odd that they don't get half as much airtime on here as other things! I'm constantly browsing beauty blogs, attempting tutorials (slow and steady, slow and steady) and I've almost perfected a smokey eye- so thought I'd put together a little post about some of my current daily go-to's (and considering I only ever have one or two looks, these are always in use)! I'm planning a skin and hair care one in a couple of weeks too- so stay tuned for that also!

You're making me blush!

Who knew Santa was so on top with his beauty products? This Christmas I was lucky enough to receive this gorgeous NARS 'Virtual Domination' palette- which, considering I've never owned a NARS blush, bronzer or highlighter before (yup, I know)- was quite the treat. I've heard so much about their blushes, so being able to try a few, a super glittery highlighter (right up my street) and my first ever, ever bronzer is brilliant- and they don't disappoint. Another interesting beauty gift was these CC Quad that I've had my sneaky eye on for a while, and hadn't actually seen featured on any beauty blogs. The idea of the quad is to cancel out uneven, dark or red tones in the skin (e.g the green is great underneath concealer for spot redness) and so far I love it. It's quite thick (hence using the teeny pink Topshop brush to dabble on)- but has done a great job at evening up any dark or red colouring. Finally, to pop it all on with, I've been using this angled Zoeva 127 brush, which is amazing for blending (as y'know Liv, that's it's job) for dab-handed ladies like me (and nope, not at all like Primary school dabber brushes ; ).

Ace of Base!

After using Double Wear for several years, and fancying something a little lighter for Summer last year- I took YSL's Le Teint Touché Eclat for a spin and fell in love. Although at first I was worried it wouldn't have the longevity of Double Wear (which is pretty hard to match up to), it's proved pretty damn amazing, and two bottles later I'm still using it. To add to the mix, I've also been using Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage concealer, which although left me puzzled as how to use (I'm not a guru ok), my good pal Eloise kindly enlightened me and it's been supplying top-notch coverage ever since.

Cheeky Lips!

This winter it's been all about matching my lips to outfits, and if you've paid a visit to my wardrobe you'll know it's been very much maroon's, or if you're a little bit fancy, Oxblood's, all round. Just before Christmas, Joe and I paid a visit to the Burberry pop up in Covent Garden, and both dropped some serious hints about things we'd fallen in love with in there- him the aftershave, and me the Burberry Christmas lipstick. Luckily, it seems I'm pretty good at hint-dropping (cough, pushing, cough) and this glossy lippy showed up on Christmas Day, along with my other new love NARS Mandore crayon- which after spotting on Suzie, was determined to get my mitts on.

Getting Highbrow!

In terms of eye make-up, things rarely change in this part of town. I've been a dedicated cat-eye wearer for years, and after trialling and testing many liquid liners, Rimmel's Exaggerate may always come up trumps (closely followed by Soap and Glory) with the small (but not too small) and precise nip and longevity that lasts all day. I've also recently been in love with Bobbi Brown's Smokey Eye Mascara, which is one that truly lengthens as promises- along with the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor - which comes with a handy sharpener, and will keep your brow game strong a la Ms Hepburn.

  13. I've never tried a NARs blush either so you are not alone there. They scare me slightly as they are so pigmented and I'm not the most lighthanded person ever.
