You're Just The Ticket
Now, I'm sure you're all probably sick of seeing resolutions posts throughout January (pfft, like that'll stop me!)- I'm still very much in a post-Christmas slump (for as long as there's still Roses in the tub I think I will be), but seeing as I'm almost certain that if I don't write them down I won't stick to them, I thought it best to pop them down here for you all to Zzzz over and hopefully inspire any of you who aren't ready to hit the gym just yet (although I did hear that you're more likely to achieve things if you tell people about them, soooo...)

Don't be a sensitive Sally...
If there's one thing I'm pretty bad at, it's worrying like an absolute lemon and taking things to heart a little bit. Whether that's 'Oh my god I've embarrassed myself and they'll never speak to me again!' or 'If I text back now will I look like keen-mate of the year? ~proceeds to forget to text back and then goes on to look like crap-mate of the year'- I'm a bit of a worrying Wanda (lol man up Liv). Okay so I'm not necessarily talking unfollowers on twitter, or negative comments- because that's fine, and in life you won't please everybody all of the time- my favourite quote at the moment is 'You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches' (by sass queen Dita Von Teese) and doesn't that just say it all? Focus on the people you have around you who love you and your weird company, and spend less time fretting about people you hardly, or don't know- they won't be the ones you Snapchat in your pyjamas after all.

Books
Drink and read more (fun, I know)...
I thought I'd pop these both together, as let's face it- they're both a little bit dull aren't they? There's nothing new about needing to drink more water- but having already gotten this one going I have genuinely noticed an improvement to my skin already, and if that's not something to get excited about that I don't know what is ; )! On top of that I'm set on tackling the pile of books I have sitting next to my bed year in and year out, and vow to start taking a book out with me every time I embark on a train journey, otherwise I will forever be reading the same 1 page in my past-midgnight-half-asleep reading time forever.

Give What Olivia Did a Spring clean...
It's been a long time coming, hasn't it? I think I first mentioned updating my layout of 4 years about 2 years ago, then 'for sure' last year- when really I didn't have much of an idea of what I really wanted, making it hard to put down on paper what I needed to change. Fast forward a few months and I think I nearly have things sorted. I'm still a little shady on everything, but things are a fair bit clearer- and hopefully some time before this blogs 5th birthday in May (eek) you can expect to say a slightly shinier What Olivia Did...
Car
Get behind the wheel...
I pity anyone that has to tolerate someone as nervous as me sitting in the drivers seat. The last thing I tried to drive was a children's car ride on Brighton pier (don't ask), to which I ended up stuck inside and unable to get out. Hopefully this isn't a foretelling of how my driving experience is going to end up, but the thought of being able to embrace road trips, visiting the shops without spending a million pounds on a travel card (as goodness knows that's what they'll cost by the time I pass) is all too exciting- and the biggest motivator ever. Who knows, maybe if I'm lucky/rich/careful enough I could even end up driving one of these one day?

Start putting pencil, paint and pen to paper...
Before fashion, my first love was drawing. I've been picking up a pen since I could (even if it was to chew on it), and my first true love (before boys and Busted) were gel pens (the popcorn one was a blessing and a curse all in one). Regardless, I love to draw, but sadly I haven't done it often since I finished my Art A level, and would love to get back in to it, before I forget how to! I'm no Quentin Blake, but I'd definitely like to whip out the pencils again and give it another try.

Rose Flower Bouquet

Appreciate the little things...
Whether it's the bus driver waiting for you after a puffed out sprint to the stop (heaven knows this happens to me far too often), getting or sending a letter in the post or even a special bunch of blooms (this stunning bunch have been picked freshly from the Debenhams Flower Delivery Valentine's collection- because it's never too early to get a bit soppy- you can get 25% off using DFBLOG25)- it's so important to count the little things for making each day a good one in it's own way (even if it was a bit pants)!

Do you have any 'resolutions' or 'goals' as such? Are you sick of that question too? ; )

  5. Reading more is one of my resolutions too. I work in publishing, but I've been terrible about reading books for fun these days since I read so many manuscripts for work.

On a totally unrelated note, Little Women is one of my favorite books! <3

  7. As much as there is a lot of these posts floating round, I don't think I will ever get bored of them! I need to take your first point in 100%, I worry a lot too, I worry too much about the little things that don't matter and the big things that do. It's pathetic, but sometimes it's good to worry because you know you care for something. Other times its just silly (for me anyway). I definitely need to start driving too but gathering the pennies is easier said than done!

It's definitely worth getting and don't worry the nerves go. I'm thinking about having a spring clean myself. Thanks for the inspiration x

  21. Love this Liv. I can't drive either and I need to get out there as I've left it so long! I also love the whole drinking more water thing. I've been drinking 1.5litres of water a day at work since last Friday and even though it's only been a few days really, I feel that it's made the world of difference already! I also feel the same way about Art - I did Art A level too and miss drawing - it's just so relaxing and fun but I rarely pick up a pencil/paintbrush much these days. Would love to see some of your doodles at some point. Good luck with your resolutions lovely!

  25. I'm totally a worrier too! (Is there a way to turn that into 'warrior', because that would be a bit better!) I use up way too much energy worrying about the silliest little things that it wouldn't occur to most people to even consider. Good luck with everything! My goals are here but I seem to have added to them quite a bit already!

  27. It's never too late for resolutions! I really love when the New Year comes around, because all blogs, no matter what blog style, make a resolutions post. For many blogs, this is a more personal post than most, and I really enjoy these. As much as I love your fashion posts, I know that I probably could never reasonably afford many of these outfits, though that never stops me from indulging in reading about them and your day. Personal posts like these are so relatable and I love them! Reading more was also one of my goals. I'm tracking my progress with GoodRead's 2015 reading challenge widget. I've also been trying to appreciate the little things more. I think blogging has really helped me with that. As a college student, there's a big limit on what I can do, so I need to make do with what I have around me, and the more I look, the more I discover. -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

  40. I loved reading your goals Liv-very well written with lots of good thoughts! This year I am focusing on the positives (it can be so easy to get swept up into the negative aspects of life) even if it is as simple as I got out the door on time this morning and cleaned up all the dishes in the sink last night. Another little thing is simplifying - I've been working to clean out my house (especially streamlining my wardrobe) and it makes me feel so much better coming home each day to a more organized space.

Good luck with all of your goals this year, can't wait to see the new blog layout!

  43. I'm also attempting to read more, and so far I'm doing ok! I find that I easily spend a lot of time in the late evening just mindlessly doing stuff online until it's bedtime, so instead I've tried to shut down my laptop much earlier and spend an hour or so reading. I've missed reading for so long and always thought I didn't have the time for it! Drinking more is also something I've tried, and I definitely notice the benefit in my skin. It's a hard habit to get into though!
Good luck with all your resolutions :)
