(Shirt: Topshop, Dress: C/O New Look, Shoes: C/O Dune, Bag: Lulu Guinness, Sunglasses: C/O New Look)

For my birthday I was lucky enough to receive the book 'Jane & Serge: A Family Album', something I've long been after (after missing her book launch last year due to #tubeprobs)- and a book which I've subsequently spent a pretty long time flicking through (thanks Gem)! For as long as I can remember, I've been hugely taken by Jane Birkin's style (so much so I've numerously considered impulsively cutting a fringe), but it's only lately that I've really started taking style notes from the lady, and putting her spin on some of my go to outfits (nope, I'm not talking always going bra-less either, cheeky). After spotting some snaps of her in a boyish army inspired shirt (and low-and-behold spotting one on the Topshop shop front display- AS IF IT KNEW), this was little nod to the lady herself. I also paired the shirt with some gorgeous crochet espadrilles (taking a nod from Ms Chung) and an embroidered New Look dress which are both pretty perfect for sunny days.

This is probably for another post, but this has also made me think a bit about style evolutions, and how my style has changed since I began blogging- and even since last year. I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in reading more of my rambles on this, but I feel I've ever so slightly grown up in the way I dress lately (that's not to say peter pan collars and macaron print is shut out of my wardrobe ; ) but I've been far more fond of beautiful basics, and quality- opposed to quantity and new things all of the time. I shan't encourage you to scroll through my archives and evaluate all my sartorial mishaps (there's been a few) but if anyone would be interested, maybe that'll be some food for post-thought!

  8. love the contrast between the masculine army shirt and that gorgeous feminine embroidered dress! and honestly, I think the beauty of blogging is that you can go back and see who you were six months, a year, seven years ago and compare and contrast. I would love a post to sort wrap up your archive style.

  13. I love pairing a utilitarian style jacket or shirt with a floaty dress, and you do it well here! I'd love to read about your style evolution - funnily enough it's something I've been thinking about too, especially with working towards cultivating a higher quality wardrobe. I find I've been naturally drifting away from a full-on girly style to something a little more... lady-like, I suppose. "Grown up" is what I call it as well!

  49. Style is always changing, though, and that's the beauty of it! I think that the challenge is trying to re-work pieces from your old wardrobe so that they suit your mood. Recently I've become very minimalist with my style - plain tees and jeans brightened up with a hot pink lip and messy hair. Your outfits always look lovely, though! x
