(Hat: ASOS, Coat: ASOS, Top: C/O Olive, Skirt: Topshop, Shoes: Topshop)

A couple of weeks ago, on a rainy weekday evening Kristabel and I scuttled over to the Soho Beyond Retro branch for an introduction (and brief history) on Beatnik fashion, before a screening of the new Coen bro's film, Inside Llewyn Davis (JT, cute cats and Adam Driver? Oh go on then)! Now, if you've read my blog for any length of time- you'll probably know I have a bit of an affinity with fashion from the fifties to seventies, so learning a little more about one of leading trends, pre mod and hippy- was pretty interesting.

With women's Beatnik style built from a wardrobe of black turtle necks (think Audrey Hepburn in 'Funny Face'), straight cigarette pants, pale faces (trust me, I have all bases covered), breton striped jerseys and mannish duffle coats- I like to think I've found a niche my style happily sits in- and this subtly inspired outfit was all but a happy accident. Although the Beatnik lifestyle may not be something I'm completely parallel with, the style is something I'm certainly happy to channel. Now where did my beret get to...

  45. Yes! I'm actually just putting together some beatnick style costumes together for work at the moment and I do love it so. Hepburn in those black trousers and that black polo has to be one of most aspirational images in fashioN! Everyone wants to look that good in something that simple. Love it
