(Sunglasses: ASOS, Dress: C/O Miss Selfridge, Shoes: Vintage, Lipstick: Kate Moss for Rimmel Shade 01)

When the opportunity arises, if there's one thing I'm becoming incredibly skilled at, it's matching my outfit to my surroundings- a somewhat sartorial lizard if you like. So, when heading somewhere like Brighton- where every other wall is licked with the perfect sorbet shade of mint, peach or raspberry- it becomes hard to resist throwing on some sugary brights and posing, or floating about as if I were in a Wes Anderson film (where they had troubling casting). Ahem. Anyway, this dress is one of my new favourite summer pieces, straight from the new (and incredibly lovely) Miss Selfridge collection. Although it's currently sold out online, I've spotted some other cute white and blue dresses that are the perfect remedy for all of your china inspired-embroidered dress needs- which I can assure you, is definitely a 'thing' now (but they also have some gorgeous white numbers, if ceramics aren't your thing).

Speaking of china and ceramics (nicely tied in there, Liv) our last afternoon in Brighton was spent devouring afternoon tea not far from our hotel in a little patriotic (this of course, being the understatement of the century) tea room called The Tea Cosy. Being the Royalist I am (and fan of general 'stuff') this seemed like it could have been made for me, and I fear (or ever so slightly hope) that one day my future home may resemble this lovely place. With ham sandwiches cut into teeny tiny triangles (no crusts, of course), a tea menu with a selection so great you could be browsing for hours and scones warm out of the oven (and the option of chocolate and Nutella scones on hand)- it all equated to a pretty filling few hours. Also, I've heard if you head there at 4pm on a Sunday you stand to sing the national anthem whilst gorging on clotted cream cakes, excellent, no?

This is the last of my mini series of Brighton posts, I hope you enjoyed a little insight into one of my favourite escapes- and stay tuned for more soon!

and here's what I wore...

  18. Beautiful dress! I was given the new Miss Selfridge catalogue at an event recently and was so surprised at how lovely it all looked! I never usually go in Miss Selfridge because it usually conjures up images in my mind of short leather mini skirts and stuff that's far too trendy, young and 'out there' for me but their new stuff is just gorgeous!
Wondering if I should stockpile some for next summer when I'm hopefully small again!
