Breakfast is a funny old thing. A fair few of the people I know don't like breakfast; which to me is some kind of gourmet based travesty, but- if I had to choose between breakfast, lunch and dinner- chances are I'd probably opt for brekkie. Maybe it's because I'm boring and know I can always turn to my favourite cereal (M&S Triple Chocolate Crunch; FYI) and it will always taste good, and always take no more than 3 minutes to whip up. So, when Alpro got in touch asking if I'd like to take a few of their flavoured milks and pouring yoghurts for a breakfasty spin and try their #deskfest challenge, I couldn't refuse. Any excuse to try a new recipe- and if it's for breakfast than all the better...
alpro2 IMG_2880p Day 1: Porridge-
Okay, okay this isn't a recipe- but porridge is a healthy breakfast cereal alternative that pretty much takes next to no time to make. Additionally with weather like we've been having it's a nice winter wake up call, when ice cold milk just doesn't cut it. To liven up my bowl of oats, I added Alpro Almond Milk and a swirl of syrup (because I am far too much like Elf) which made for a tasty twist to a breakfast classic (heated in the microwave, of course). This could also be jazzed up with dried fruit (cranberrys are so good), real life almonds (because matching snacks with milk is cool) or some chocolate chips (if you're feeling cheeky). IMG_1720p IMG_1724p Day 2: Granola-
For this breakfast I combined my favourite cereal with some different elements; opposed to my go to green top milk- which equated to a somewhat trifle of a meal (with an illusion I'm drinking bubble tea in between). For the bottom I squashed some fresh raspberrys (squashing not necessary), layered fresh blueberries on top mixed with Alpro vanilla pouring yogurt (seriously tasty by the way)- and topped with a handful of chocolatey granola for a sweet finish. Perfect. alpro IMG_1865p Day 3: Pancakes-
The final day of my breakfast challenge included baking some fresh pancakes, and adding a nutty spin with Alpro Hazelnut Milk. For these I followed a simple and pretty general pancake recipe from the BBC website, and replaced normal milk for this substitute. On top I added my fruit of choice and a sprinkle of sugar, and teamed (like it's a pair of jeans) with a glass of Hazelnut milk. Now, I haven't tried this hazelnut recipe with Nutella yet- but please, if you do- let me know how it is.

Did you take part in Alpro's #deskfest challenge? Have you tried any cool breakfast recipes lately- answers on a postcard!

  20. M&S Triple Chocolate Crunch is the best cereal in the whole world (and the reason I knew my bf was The One- because he knows it is the best cereal too). I love the idea of using flavoured milk to make pancakes, as I make them pretty much every weekend/whenever we've run out of M&S cereal. xx

  23. All of these breakfast options look yummy, I'm a big fan of porridge in the winter months with sliced banana on top and pancakes are usually a treat (c/o my Dad) with golden syrup, however I'm yet to try granola - so many people say how nice it is! Great post lovely.

I drink Alpro's rice milk for breakfast, such a good alternative to dairy as I feel it's bad for my skin.
