Considering she gave birth to someone like me, my mum is pretty (read: very) controlled when it comes to shopping for clothes. She rarely impulse buys, ponders something a long time before purchasing and looks at investment pieces opposed to my unhealthy (but decreasing) 'one in every colour and cut' theory- I could definitely learn a thing or two. Plus, she rarely ever treats herself (and no mum, your trademark no7 eye shadow doesn't count). So, when Westfield London offered me the opportunity to spoil her for Mother's day with a giftcard, I couldn't say no, and knew she certainly deserved it.
My mum is indefinitely one of the most inspirational women I know, and I don't say that despite being one of her biggest cheerleaders. I won't go into lots of details on here because no one likes too much slosh, but I am certainly blessed to have someone as encouraging, supportive and constantly strong in my life, on top of someone who makes me so proud to be her daughter all of the time. So a bit of shopping is only a token as to how much she means to me.After some initial bother with coming to grips she could buy anything (within reason), we quickly warmed up- resulting in her picking out a selection of perfect spring items from some of her favourite high street shops including The White Company, Urban Outfitters and Zara. We had a really lovely afternoon, along with brother P- and was pleasantly surprised that most shops were relatively calm (even at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon) so we could easily browse, and head out without too much fuss or the need to sharpen any elbows. After completing a couple of circuits we headed for some lunch at a very 'pawsh' Deli style cafe at M&S- to which we gobbled on salads, toasties and even a cheeky chilled beverage to celebrate a successful shop.

Thank you Westfield for a lovely afternoon, and thanks Mama P for being the absolute bees knees.

ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful, it's good to spend some quality time with the mother I find. My mom is the same, she never buys clothes for herself, she'd prefer to see us happy rather than herself but I always try and treat her somehow, even if its just a cup of tea in town or a bite to eat. That food looks delicious. I was meant to buy some mozzarella today but forget... damn you memory
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely post, i'd love to have the opportunity to do this with my mum, really thank her for everything she's done :) hope you had a wonderful day - it sounds like you did! ox

It sounds like a lovely day. My mum is the same - she ponders every item and never impulse buys unless it's a ridiculously cheap deal in the same. There's a one if those delis in marks and spencer in newcsdtle. mum and I have been going there for lunch and wine every shopping day we have had for years! I've never seen one anywhere else. X
