After visiting Nottingham several times before to visit Joe- I can safely say before now our visits have essentially consisted of visiting the city centre shops and making a bee-line for our favourite chain Italian restaurants (not that there's anything wrong with that of course...) However, this time we managed to explore a little more of the city and eat in a few new tasty places- which I can't wait to share with you all. One of the places I was shown on my mini tour of the city was this lovely marina, lined with rows of colourful 'Rosie and Jim esque' canal boats, which we couldn't help but take a peek at...

After strolling up and down and becoming suitably windswept, we headed into the city for a spot of window shopping and some delicious lunch! I opted for my current outfit of choice (I may or may not have worn this skirt 3 times this week...) which includes my go-to COS jumper and the cutest bouclé-style skirt from my favourite online boutique, Olive. I teamed the duo with my trusty leather jacket and worn in loafers for the perfect level of school-girl geekiness that seems to constantly make an appearance in my outfits.

What have you been up to this weekend? Have you discovered any beautiful new places?

5 Minutes With...: Suki Alice Waterhouse

At 20 years old Suki Waterhouse is quite something (and being 19 myself, arguably the girl I would have wanted to be had I gone to school with her). With her big brown doe eyes, tousled blonde locks and a certain eye for perfectly nostalgic colourful school-girl style (think cool suits, floaty dresses and a perfectly kept pair of Russell & Bromley loafers), there's no wonder she's already doing so well- oh, and she's a hugely successful model, did I mention?

But it doesn't stop there, this girl can sing. She knows her music, her photography, and her style- and I for one can only describe her as my newest girl crush. I caught up with her in a cheeky 'Twinterview' (Twitter? Interview? Geddit?) and find out a little bit more about London's favourite new face...

How would you describe your everyday style?
Describe it as a 60's swinger/cave woman or japanese school girl going to a Alice in wonderland tea party.

What's the most worn thing in your wardrobe?
A small hoop I nicked off my sister.

Who, or what inspires your style?
Jane birkin, David Bowie, Lou doillon more currently. I love marriane faithfuls and Pattie boyds style back in the day. Other than that it's everything about me, people on the street, films... I just saw Gigola and Lou is stunning throughout.

suki2

If you could go back in time where would you go?
I'd go back and watch a Jimi Hendrix concert and I'd have a full on outfit on!

What is the most important lesson you've been taught so far?
That you should be careful with what you share with strangers. I'm not good at this one, I'm very open and want to trust everyone!

suki1

Favourite place to shop?
Dover St Market and Berlin.

Where's your favourite place to find vintage treasures?
Berlin or Stoke Newington high street in London!

suki3

Biggest fashion disaster?
Too many!

What's been the most surreal career experience for you to date?
Probably being around Kate Moss a few times- I guess that's pretty surreal...

ootd118 IMG_1837p (Jacket: River Island, Jeans: American Apparel, T Shirt: Next, Shoes: Primark)

With Autumn just around the corner (I am still insistent it hasn't yet arrived- it definitely has) and the weather forecast making a change for the wetter (hohoho) it seems that at the moment as well as altering my wardrobe plans (every outfit is now hidden by my Paddington bear duffle coat) I'm going to have to alter out post locations, which with the dark light has proved a little difficult- so pardon my rabbit in the headlight expression (we both know this has nothing to do with the lighting...)

Anyway, it's safe to say, indoors or out- I'm pretty fond of this outfit. I was initially going to wear this to London Fashion Week, but due to post office problems had to make some teeny alterations (cool story Liv!) However after picking it up I'm in jacket-love. It's easy to wear, simple and dare I say- trendy (florals, prints, cool tapestry-style fabric, sports style- pow!) Plus, with a pair of cheap slinky heels, or dressed down with some studded Chloe-esque ankle boots- it can be hugely versatile (you could even channel Ryan-Gosling-in-Drive-chic), so I'm pretty sure this is now a solid staple for my autumn wardrobe...

moddolly
Founded by the incredibly talented Amy He, Mod Dolly was born in 2010 for modern girls who 'like to be a little playful in their everyday styling'. Inspired by eras gone by, the pieces channel a modern twist on classic looks, each item carefully handmade and designed to be worn with love. With the Mod Dolly website having just relaunched and a stunning limited collection to choose from, it's simply too good to miss out on (I heart the Amber Tartan dress)!

starw
The Strawberry Sisters is written by the stunning Emily and Beth, two gorgeous red headed sisters with a penchant for fashion, food and fabulous cocktails- what's not to love? With food photography gorgeous enough to make your tummy rumble (and recommendations of where to find it), gorgeous DIY's to get under your belt and shopping trips and dresses to make your heart skip a beat (check out their LFW coverage too!), these girls are seriously in the know, and their gorgeous blog is a first stop for my fashion and foodie quandaries.

charles
As soon as I discovered Charlie's blog months back, I fell in love- this girl had the style I wanted, and her dreamy photographs of trips to tea rooms and the British seaside had me at hello. With a fashion sense gorgeous enough to rival that of Leith Clark, photography to make you book that train to Falmouth (or London, depending where she is), and storybook writing skills- Charlie's blog is one of my absolute faves, plus after meeting her last month can confirm she is just as lovely in person- go go go!

ste
Not only is Stephs blog a collection of honest beauty reviews, must-do DIYs (DIY studded brogues anyone!?), enviable cool outfits (I sometimes wonder if there's anything she couldn't pull off...) and stunning places to visit; but she's one of the lovliest people ever (and has gorgeous hair, sigh!). With her blog being one of my favourite beauty, lifestyle AND fashion blogs- a visit should be in order from you all (I dare you not to fall in love with her gorgeous Bestival photos and dreamy guest posts!)

just
Twenty year old Sheri is the uber talented and doubly gorgeous lady behind, 'Just blog it all instead'. Her blog is a sunny mix of gorgeously girlie outfits (she knows her floral prints, ladies), perfectly photographed blue skied adventures by the sea, must have recent buys, beauty tips and tricks all wrapped up with Sheri's beautiful smile. If you fancy getting lost in a fuzzy warm feeling blog, then I seriously suggest you head over here pronto- the perfect pick me up for these rainy Autumn days!

cold knees
Cold Knees comes from 25 year old London based Rachel- a girl whose style is certainly after my own heart. I'm pretty sure our minds are in style sync, as everything she wears I fall in love with- this girl has a serious eye. her blog documents her busy life in some of London's most beautiful places, plus tasty treats, Lomo cameras, daydreaming and some cute kitties thrown in for good measure- one for your blogrolls!

miss princess
I'm pretty sure that we can all agree, that after clothes shopping the next best thing thing is shopping for our homes (there are few things as satisfying as whizzing round IKEA non?) However, Miss Princess Pancake offers something a little different. With beautiful home storage and trinkets, gorgeous little treats that make perfect gifts (or as a naught treat) and all totalling at under £15- this is a one stop shop for girlie goodness! See you at the checkout...

myvin
Being a shopping lover- I know how hard it can be to find good, well fitted vintage clothing. But fear not, online boutique, Vintage Style Me stocks a huge range of unique hand picked vintage items, made to be affordable, wearable (hurrah), and accessible- with pieces all the way from the 1940s to the 1990s. Not only are the pieces well priced, but with garments for both men and women (as well as a whole host of accessories on offer) there will always be something to satisfy your vintage cravings!

tilly jayne
20 year old Tilly-Jaynes blog is a haven for all things fashion forward; and is an outlet for 'her daily (gorgeous) outfits and her fashion thoughts'. With outfits perfectly crafted from the high street's hottest pieces (yes, she got her mitts on the Primark leather skirt...) and wish-lists that will send you speeding to the nearest checkout, it's no wonder her beautiful piece of the internet has been featured in both Look magazine and MSN.com- a must visit!

tgat
Sarah's uber hip blog is a style, fashion AND beauty blog with 'touches of music, lifestyle and escapades of 'The Girl About Town'. Set up as a means of maintaining her love of fashion, TGAT brings outfits reminiscent of a certain Miss Chung, straight forward beauty reviews, up-to date fashion posts and beautiful pictures documenting her adventures around the world (you could easily be scrolling for a while...)

fridayisf
Physiotherapy students Sarah's fashion blog brings with it stunning crystal clear photography (she even has amazing studio shoots!), absolutely brilliant reviews and tips, an incredibly lust worthy wardrobe and covetable wish-lists. Despite me not following many beauty blogs; I can happily say Sarah's reviews are some of the best I've read- which is something in itself! Head over and see what I mean here!

lauraaa
Inspired by fashion, photography, interiors and people, Lauras gorgeous blog brings up to date listings of the most covetable pieces, exclusive press days (envy o'clock), some seriously striking outfit pictures (girl knows how to put a cracking outfit together), photographic updates of her daily adventures and some amazing hints and tips as to the best places to eat and see. Having met the lady herself at last seasons fashion week, I can confirm her as lovely as her blog presents- go go go!

brb
After meeting the breathtaking Megan whilst filming the Dahlia Summer video earlier this year; I knew straight away her blog would be a treat in itself. A west country girl at heart and currently residing with her fiancé in Bath , Megans blog can only be described as a sugary fairytale fashion fantasy, with dreamy candy coloured outfits, recipes and scrapbook tales of her romantic day-to-day musings - plus she also has a wedding blog which is equally as stunning.

ifyou
Rhiannons blog focusses on her musings of 'fashion, art, music and sparkly things' and anything she find interesting. Introducing brand spanking new music, hot to trot street style from the big smoke, hot new brands and exclusives from the ones we love, the coolest models (who knew Agy Deyn's sister was with Select?!) and some seriously bad-ass nail art, Rhiannon offers a little something extra in the sea of fashion blogs and I can't get enough of it (plus, she knows her fashion-stuff).

thecamera
Currently residing by the great British sea-side as a student, Amys wonderful blog includes 'fashion, muses, photography (personal and professional), beauty, reviews, music, literature and a whole lot of rambling' (so everything you could ever want!) With a plethora of engaging posts and beau outfits, she also has a Youtube channel (would it be weird to say a lovely speaking voice too?) and the most gorgeous long-distance love blog which I'm pretty sure has taken over as my bedtime reading- so sweet.

thestyletag
The Style Tag is definitely one of those blogs that when you discover it, you give yourself a tiny kick for not finding it sooner. Plus, if you're not instantly wowed by Lauren's beauty (have you SEEN her hair) and Chung-esque knack for styling (despite what her blog posts may say- few girls can wear boys braces and look cool ok) then I don't know what will. Not a blog for those who suffer from wardrobe envy, Lauren has the most awesome wardrobe ever and pulls everything she wears off with complete ease- how does she do it?

What Olivia Did: A tiny slice of fashion week...

Saturday, 22 September 2012

ootd115 IMG_1618p IMG_1654p aaaaaaastyghbn (Blazer:River Island, Shirt:Topshop,Trousers:Topshop,Shoes:Office,Bag:C/O Mybag.com,Belt: Vintage)

With a new and busy work schedule and a last minute festival trip to Wales popping up; this season fashion week took a bit of a back seat. Don't get me wrong, I love fashion week- but this year I was adamant on only applying to the shows I really wanted to see, and designers I truly love (probably a little over-ambitious but a girl can dream). With that, on the Tuesday I was lucky enough to nab a ticket to Ashish; a designer whose collections, both collaborative and independent always get me excited. From when I first discovered his work through his capsule Topshop collection a couple of years back (I have worn my 'Parlez Vous Anglais' top to death), his designs and ultimately his level of fun always have me at hello. With his SS13 offering consisting of a mass of glittery sequin based goodness, slouchy mis-matched sports wear, geeky fun, some seriously cool slogans (wouldn't be complete without them) and scrunchies and Reebok classics (sorry Carrie Bradshaw)- it was a pretty kick ass collection (send the white dress/Tres Fatigue top my way)!

IMG_1762p IMG_1754p IMG_1744p IMG_1752p IMG_1757p IMG_1768p ppppp

For the show I opted for something pretty simple. After spending about 30 years (ok a few hours) planning outfits last season, I was set on wearing something I ultimately felt happy, comfortable and pretty subtle in. With both my green Topshop trousers and burgundy blazer coming from last years Autumn wardrobe (hooray for no spending) I teamed it with a newer Topshop shirt in order to feel a little more 'trendy' (I did just say that). Additionally, before the show I managed to hit a couple of new design exhibitions and people watched on the trendy cobbles of Somerset House (a rubber-neckers paradise), which pretty much completed my mini taster of SS13! See you next season...

After warming up in the Cath Kidston van, and browsing the gorgeous selection of home ware (and falling in love with their snuggly tartan blankets), Jazmine, Kristabel and I made a direct beeline for Byron (yeah, they had a van) to messily tackle a classic burger before heading over to the 'i' stage for two of my favourite bands ever ever, Summer Camp and Kindness.

With the rain making it's debut at the festival as Summer Camp were about to begin- me being the embarrassing number one fan girl headed for the front- camera, killer moves (I jest) and sing-along-voice at the ready. As per usual my favourite musical couple (or favourite couple in general, you know, ahem) did not dissapoint (although I fear the people behind me could only hear my unfortunate wailing) and certainly set the standard for a perfect evening of music.

After thinking about food a little bit more, and returning to the big Tea Bus to importantly decide whether I quite fancied some shortbread- we headed over to see Kindness (swoon), which, inevitably was a swingin' party (anyone see what I did there? no?) After cutting some serious shapes and wrapping ourselves in our new blankets, we headed back to the cottage, just in time for some slumber party fun (hot chocolate and chocolate included) before bidding a reluctant farewell the next morning...

(Would just like to say a HUGE thank you to the wonderful Cath Kidston team for such a pleasurable weekend, I am one grateful and happy Liv!)
