Let's get one thing straight, ghoulies- I've you've come here for late night Halloween related chat, cool gory make up tutorials and (fake) blood stained white lace dresses- you've come to the wrong place (bar a spot of ketchup on my t shirt...) this post contains lots of sugar, sea, sixties and sass- you have been warned.

Anyway! A couple of Saturdays ago, before it became overly Autumnal a few of my favourite blogging ladies and I decided to (as it were) 'hit up Brighton' and embrace the seaside spirit (despite the rain arriving as soon as Carrie and I stepped on the train...) and pay a visit to a certain Ms Hulanicki's exhibition.

After arriving and forming a somewhat awesome girl gang (I'm sorry...) Kristabel, Carrie, Lucy, Dunya and I made our way to the sea front to suitably fill ourselves up with burgers from JB's diner- which was amazing. I opted for an aubergine and mozzarella burger and fries- which I have to say, is certainly now providing midnight munchies.
IMG_3174p IMG_3192p IMG_3197p IMG_3202p IMG_3203p
After indulging in one too many chips, we headed to the famous Brighton pier for some seriously shape cutting (have you heard the songs they play around there?!), a couple of impromptu weddings courtesy of the wonderful face in hole creation, a lustful look upon many nostalgic rides and finally eyeing up one-too many sugar fuelled stalls- candy floss anyone?
IMG_3288p IMG_3309p IMG_3316p IMG_3327p

But now back to the main reason we came to Brighton- to have a sneaky peek at the amazing Biba and Beyond exhibition at the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery; a discovery into the depths of the iconic sixties brand and it's hugely talented curator Barbara Hulanicki. With the exhibition telling the fascinating story of the brand, all the way back to it's foundations- it's truly remarkable to see how far the impeccably talented Ms Hulanicki has come; and more so how fashion has evolved (or not so much) from this particular period of time- there were certainly a couple of collared frocks and a particular printed suit I wouldn't have minded getting my mitts on (not to mention that Topshop dress I stupidly missed out on...)

(Below I have photographed some of my favourite snippets from the exhibtion, including a amazing quote from Barbara- she paints the dreamiest pictures... (which makes sense as she is also an incredibly talented fashion illustrator) IMG_3340p IMG_3354p IMG_3357p IMG_3361p IMG_3365p IMG_3369p
If you do get time, I really recommend you do go and pay a visit- it is a truly amazing exhibition, and worth the lovely seaside visit!

  1. The weather clearly can't rain on this girl gang's parade! Sounds like the best day ever, even though I'm not the world's biggest fan of pebbled beaches (they hurt my feet a tad too much). xxx ps, please help me find the perfect leather jacket??
