As silly as this might sound, this is probably one of my (dare I say it) 'trendier' outfits on here. I'm not really a blogger who can work the 'high fashion' look. In my opinion, I'm not very good at putting simple, clean cut, luxe looking pieces together and create stunning ensembles, (all of which appear somewhat effortless and undeniably cool) and until I took these photos didn't consider it something I could really wear.
I'm a little scared of the H&M trend section and in general I'd say my style is a little too fussy for this type of dressing. I like tacky-pretty prints (anything with animals if possible) and I feel far more comfortable in an oversized smock dress, striped t shirt and battered loafers, and due to my awfully un-chic wide (and easily blistering) feet, don't think I could ever get away with something that has less straps than a Clarks esque Roman sandal or more support than a Dr Marten. However, I went there folks. After receiving these Louis Vuitton style silver toe cap heels, I thought I'd take the plunge and style them with some of the most clean-cut 'on trend' pieces I own, and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Teaming my shoes with my favourite Zara pj pants, a Next granddad style shirt and my favourite red lipstick, I was pretty pleased to know that even the most simple of fashion maths can make for the most comfortable (and effortless) outcome.
What do you think? Is less really more?

Lady, you look unreal! I would never usually go for this type of look either; like you, i'm so much more comfortable in over-sized dresses and waist belts. However, you are seriously tempting me here, it looks so high fashion, yet so simple.
ReplyDeleteyou little beauty :)
p.s. NEED those shoes immediately.xx
I think you look stunning and it's a simple but really cool look. To be honest though, you could pull off anything so I don't think you need to worry ;-)

I really adore this but, honestly?- I think you'd look stunning in a banana suit. Can I ask how tall you are? I'm really short, and I've never dared wearing any trousers other than skinny fit in case they make me look even shorter, but you managed to pull them off perfectly. x
ReplyDeleteOh Olivia what I'd give to look like you, you look absolutely b-e-a-utiful! I really love those trousers! x
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are like my dream shoes, they're so amazing! Lady you are working this outfit!

ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, this is stunning. yes, definitely think less can be more (like here) but more can also be more. love both!

I love those shoes to bits. I am so fussy when it comes to flat shoes but those are just lovely <3
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous!! I love your shoes! I think I may even have seen them (or similar) last night at the Nelly event in Nottingham! If they are the same ones then I put them down as my first choice to receive a complimentary pair (can't wait to get them) xo
ReplyDeletelove this look on you liv, I also have reservations about being able to pull off the effortlessly chic / luxe look. I tend to opt for structured pieces, and never quite work the 'loose' look well. BUT, you rock this for sure. this looks awesome and I especially like the print trousers :)

This outfit is literally amazing - you definitely nailed the 'high fashion just thrown together but still achingly cool' look (if there's even such a thing?!). It just looks so relaxed and comfy, but still really cool and on-trend - LoveLoveLove!

What an amazing outfit, you really do pull it off. However, I agree with what you said about the h&m trend section though - I'm exactly the same! I find the clothes to be lovely, but I just fear I can't pull off such a simple combination!

This is exactly the sort of look I'd love to be able to pass off, but the baggy, loose style always makes me feel frumpy! You look fab, and I need those shoes!

This really looks great! Love the pj-inspired trousers and oversized blouse. I also really like your shoes but they look a bit painful... :/

ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this outfit - but I'd definitely never be brave enough to wear it out! I'm so integrated to the land of tea dresses, red lipstick and cute prints that I don't know how to leave it :L Need to start trying to take more risks because they always pay off and look amazing on other people!
ReplyDeleteI saw those shoes in Zara and was pretty tempted. They do look good!
ReplyDeleteKate x
Before i even read the bits you scribbled down (the photos are always the best bit!) I thought how amazingly effortless you looked, and super duper elegant aswell. But you always do, i have a sneaky suspicion you could probably look good in alot of things you dont always where. Think we are all guilty of having a certain style we stick too, you would not think this wasnt what you normally wear…if you get me :)
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend xxx
you look amazing, those shoes are gorgeous i have some on order :} x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this outfit!!
