When browsing new spring/summer collections, the things that attract me post to the clothes are usually the cuts, colours and the fabrics, and, on occasion the way the pieces work together. This year, Boutique by Jaeger have created a collection that completely epitomizes the ladylike shapes, pastel hues and exquisite cuts that summarize this years spring, and summer trends. With inspiration taken from the 50's and 60's, and shapes that wouldn't be unfamiliar in a certain Grace Kelly's or Ms Hepburn's wardrobe; peplum tops, peter pan collars along with an array of shift and prom dress shapes are pieces that make up a collection that is certainly worth investing in.

Boutique by Jaeger SS12- My picks...

(Jumper: House of Holland, Jeans: Whistles, Shoes: New Look, ArTy FaRtY nail picture: models own)

I for one am someone that's definitely 'comfort' over 'style'. I've mentioned previously my adoration for tartan pj's and how, if I could wear them out and call it '90's grunge revival' I certainly would- and there are few pieces I own that come close to the cool and cosy factor. So, after 'accidently' stumbling across the House of Holland website on my daily stroll around the internet, and continuing to click on the 'sale' page I ended up ordering this jumper, but hey I'm glad I did. It's a really lovely warm jumper, and I love the punchy phrasing, it's the perfect balance of humour and the quirkiness of being a Brit. Although I've styled it pretty basically on the occassion (with my go-to flat forms) I think it'd look awesome with a crisp white shirt underneath, or teamed with some denim cut-offs or a skater style skirt with some fun HH tights!

I also played around a bit with some new nail art styles! (girliest sentence EVER), which was so nice as I haven't had time recently. I tried out some 70's inspired paisley print, and was pretty impressed with the outcome if I do say so myself! Although, I did forget about my right hand for a moment meaning there was a significant quality difference of hands at the end! Typical!

Also, how AMAZING was the Arctic Monkeys Katy B cover on the live lounge today, fan girling 4eva! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35T-6M1qb3k

Tickle me pink and rosy as a flushed red apple skin

(Dress: C/O 18 and East, Jumper: Whistles, Shoes: New Look)

Firstly, please excuse the odd lighting in the above photos! It seemed no matter how much I tried to even out the balance of either images it would not work- so apologies first for my lack of technical editing skills! Anyway! I hope you've all had a lovely and relaxing weekend! I'm coming toward the final 10 or so days of my 30-day-working-week (!) so I am certainly looking forward to having a super lazy carb filled (everyday for me really) pyjama wearing day sometime in the relatively near future.

On less slob like and pj related terms, I was recently send this gorgeous dress by the super-cool 18 and East, and it's safe to say I was very quickly head over heels for it. It has the most gorgeous shift shape, but with it's high round neck and cut out back makes it a little more feminine- not to mention the awesome (and not too 'pretty') floral print! I can't wait to wear it with a denim jacket and brogues and ankle socks, but until them some trusty 90 deniers and my go-to Whistles jumper will have to suffice!

Also, I did mention in my last blog post- very briefly- at the end about my new layout! Obviously it's something you have probably noticed by now, but I just wanted to say a h u g e thank you to the gorgeous Lauren and Emma for making my blog a little neater and sprucier! I'm a bit (VERY) rubbish at anything HTML related (as Lauren will probably tell you) so I'm so grateful for these girls making something lovely! You should definitely check out both Lauren's gorgeous blog and Emma's here (she is SO talented), you won't be disappointed, plus they are both so so lovely.

FINALLY (sorry this has been a bit of a long one) if you fancy advertising on my blog for February get in touch now, I have a few spaces left and it'd be lovely to get to know some lovely new blogs, so email me if you'd like further details! I hope you all have a lovely week, I have some more posts lined up for the next few days so stay tuned for some more spring looks, outfits and maybe a cheeky recipe!

She grows wild strawberries, she's made of ivory and pearl

After having decided, promised and vowed to not spend another penny on clothing throughout the rest of the month (2 weeks and counting...) suddenly I began to spot things I now completely covet. Occasionally with wish lists, I'll spot a few things I think are cool, the odd piece I'll probably invest in and the rest that are pretty easy on the eye- but this time I am completely yearning for these pieces (and they're not just pieces I've skimmed the net for- my bookmarks folder has been housing them for a fair while now!). It's safe to say my what my next few payslips will be going on, but until the I'll just have to stare into my computer screen with longing in my heart (a poetic way of saying 'they're really blooming nice').

Anyway, this months wishlist consists of The Cambridge Satchel Company, Topshop & Sister Jane, Zara, Little Nell and ASOS. Now, if you know me I find it difficult to even fathom using another bag that isn't my Alexa. After receiving it for my birthday this year I don't think I've dared used another bag, but really feel that this satchel is a complete contrast, and in such a bright colour would give my Mulberry a well earned rest every now and then- perfectly justifiable, no?

I'm also in LOVE with nearly everything Sister Jane comes out with. Their dresses have the perfect girlie-yet-60s-beatnik feel and which girl isn't a sucker for a nice collar... The other two Topshop pieces are pretty self explanatory. Summery pleated chiffon midi dress- check! Jumper with my initial on it in springs perfect colour- check! Speaking of dresses, this pastel green Zara dress has been on my wishlist for as long as I can remember and after seeing it in Company's fashion cupboard I'm a little bit more in love with it (it also has the perfect cut out back detail!). Additionally, they would all look perfect layered with this gorgeous ASOS ladylike detail trench mmm...

Last but definitely not least are these stunning pieces from Little Nell! Having had her ad on my blog, I've certainly become accustomed to Penny's delicate and beautiful jewellery designs, and with new pieces including gorgeous stacking rings and animal shaped pendants, what's not to like (oh, and they're all under £10!).

(also, you may have noticed my blog has had a little makeover! I hope you all like as much as I do! the brains behind it are Lauren & Emma- who will have a super special post coming soon thanks to their hard work!)

A Girl Can Dream: Winter Warmers (well, kind of...)

(image credit: Marie Claire & Whistles)

Okay, okay maybe it's a teeny tiny bit biased to say this- but I am in love with the Whistles SS12 collection. After falling head over heels with their first ever resort collection late last year, my feet and fingers were tapping eagerly awaiting what surprises the new year would bring- it did not disappoint.

After spying the full look book on Marie Claire (and therefore telling everyone I knew) I almost instantaneously made a full wish list, knowing exactly what I would purchase when it came in (obsessed, perhaps?). Anyway, the collection exhibits all aspects of the trends soon to be appearing this spring/summer; prints (florals? spring? really?), feminine cuts and textures (lace, soft leathers, sheer chiffons and delicate tailoring), clashing colours (mixes or sorbet tints and fluro bights) and even a sprinkle of sports luxe for good measure. Equally, many of the pieces are transitional- and I for one cannot wait to get my mitts on that absolute knock out of a maxi dress, the first spring dress I can promise I will be wearing all year round!

Whistles SS12: My picks...

(Dress: Dahlia, Shoes: eBay, Belt:Vintage, Lipstick: Mischief by Topshop)

If there's one blogger who has one of the most confident and enviable senses of personal style I can think of it's Vicki- I don't think I've seen one post of hers where I haven't wished 'damn! why didn't I style it like that?!' and each and every outfit is totally fun, unique and more importantly- wearable.

So, when Vicki and I got chatting on Twitter just before Christmas, both having been very kindly gifted some gorgeous dresses from Dahlia, and both already posted about them, we had a idea! Why don't we swap our dresses and (corny as it may sound) mix it up a bit? It would be an awesome way of getting more ideas of how to wear one item, plus a nice way to wear something new, and let's be honest what girl doesn't like wearing a new dress?

Although I was perhaps a little conservative on this occasion- I teamed the dress with some black tights, red lippy and a slick of red lipstick- I was tempted to layer with a bright jumper, but knew it would take the beauty of the detail away. However, I love love love how Vicki has styled the dress, adding her trademark pop of colour and awesome red hair- I am still envious! To see how Vicki styled my dress (shown in full here) head over to her blog, and if you don't already hit the follow button- you certainly won't be disappointed.

Liv Loves: Dahlia (and swapping dresses!)

(Dress: C/O Ever Ours, Jacket: Whistles, Shoes: Gift)

After having them sitting on my lovely sidebar throughout December, and again this month, the gorgeous Kimberly, very kindly gifted me this gorgeous dress from her equally beautiful shop, Ever Ours. Also having recently seen it on Michelle's blog, I absolutely fell in love with this dress. With bows, lace and heart print is is quite obviously the most typically girly dress I own, but with the help of my trusty new biker jacket (and some cutesty kitty shoes), I think the ratio of girliness has been balanced out. I wore this to work yesterday, and didn't realise it's probably more of a tunic than a dress, so layered it with a black body con number to try and retain some of my modesty!

Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely week so far. So far my placement is going really well, thanks to everyone that has asked! I'm loving the whole magazine experience, and it's making me even more determined in actually getting somewhere with everything. However, working so very close to Oxford Street is proving slightly problematic. Having Topshop a stones throw away from my path whilst exiting the tube every morning is not great, and this morning resulted in a twenty-past nine shopping trip... never again! For the rest of this month I vow not to purchase another thing and just appreciate what I have!

It started in your heart, it started in your dreams

(Shirt: Charity Shop, Jumper: Whistles: Jeans: Whistles, Shoes: gift via eBay)

Happy New Year everyone! (Yes, it's been that long since I last posted...) I hope you've all had a nice ease into the new year and the busy month that is January, I literally haven't stopped- hence the sparseness of my posts, I promise this will change! I had a bit of a lay in this morning so managed to snap as many outfits as I could so hopefully this week, my little blog won't be so empty! I began my placement at Company magazine last week, and along with some full days at work everything has been go-go-go, so finding the time to post has been pretty tricky, so bare with me for this month. I have vowed to make this year one that I post super regularly, so this is not going to be a normal occurrence!

Anyway, this is what I wore today to work! A little basic (conservative perhaps) but hey! My amazing friend Gemma got me these shoes as a gift (!!!) and I thought they would be the purr-fect way to add a little something more exciting to this outfit! (see what I did there?) I am absolutely in love with them, and am very tempted to showcase them week 2 of my internship, providing they're not too glam! They're the cutest shoes ever, and I feel very lucky to have them- they give kitten heels a whole new meaning!

I will also be showcasing a bit of a new look for my blog some time in the next few weeks which I'm super excited about, I've had a couple of very special people helping me with my header and overall layout so will do a post on that when everything is revealed!

Have a lovely week!
