(Dress: C/O In Love With Fashion, Belt: Primark, Boots: Topshop)

Hello! Unfortunately this is a little overdue, but with so much going on, moving to uni and other give aways I was hoping to save this until I had a little more time on my hands!

Anyway, I was also recently sent this gorgeous floral wrap dress by LOVE, which ironically I love (hohoho!). It's so versatile and perfect for both hot 'bare leg' days and teamed with some tights and a jumper, so you can't really go wrong! Plus it's a gorgeous light cotton material, meaning it's perfect for lounging around but can also be 'glammed up'- perfect!

Anyway, those LOVE-ly ladies have offered one of my lucky readers the opportunity to select a dress of their choice from their website, and having such an amazing selection, I think you'd be silly not to! To enter all you have to do is...

- Like the LOVE Facebook page here.
- Like my blog Facebook page here.
- Leave me a comment with a link to the item you'd like to win if you won the giveaway!

... and that's it! You have until the 28th of October to enter, good luck!

Sitting on my own, chewing on a bone, a thousand million miles from home

Now, I can't fully credit myself for this recipe as it was one I actually found in my new little Hummingbird Bakery cupcake recipe book, but as they went down such a hit I thought I'd share the recipe with you guys!

It seems to be that most of my 'sweet' recipes are based around chocolate, so I'm going to try and add in a little bit of variety in the near future- although, let's be honest who can resist a good chocolate cake? These are pretty simple to make, and make about 10 if you're lucky! If anyone has any requests for recipes in the near future let me know!

Anyway, here goes!

What you will need:
- 100g plain flour (I'd musch rather call it plain than 'all purpose'- it's no cleaning agent!)
- 2 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 140g caster sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- a pinch of salt!
- 40g unsalted butter at room temperature
- 120ml whole milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

For The Frosting:
- 300g icing sugar
- 100g unsalted butter at room temperature
- 40g cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons whole milk (sometimes you may need a little more!)

1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees!

2. Put (preferably sift) the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, salt and butter in a bowl, and if like me, you don't have an electric mixer (wah!) beat together until mixed well and of a 'sandy consistency' (and you have a mild arm ache).

(see! brown edible sand!)

3. Whisk the milk, egg and vanilla extract together in a bowl, pouring about half into the flour mixture and stirring it until mixed well, with as few lumps as possible (this is hard as the mixture disappears quickly!)

4. Pour in the remaining mixture and mix until smooth (without an electric mixer this is probably near to impossible, but make it as lump-free as poss!)

5. Spoon the mixture into some fun paper cases, until about two thirds full and bake for about 20-25 minutes (you know they're done when a skewer/knife comes out clean when poked in!). Leave to cool!

6. While the cupcakes are busy chillin' (see what I did there, anyone...no?) you can make your frosting! Add your icing sugar, butter and cocoa into a bowl and beat until all well mixed and comes together.

7. Add the milk to the mixture a little bit at a time, and beat until light and fluffy- 'the longer the frosting is beaten the lighter and fluffier it becomes- viola!

(excuse all the cutlery!)

8. When the cupcakes are cool spoon your frosting on top and decorate with whatever you fancy (it was a toss up between marshmallows and fudge!) If you're a dork like me you can also buy some rad cake boxes from Sainsburys and put them in there to be real profesh ;) enjoy!

if any of the above images belong to you, let me know and I will give credit.

I'm not really one to post lots of street style pictures, but after seeing these snaps across a number of blogs and sites, I couldn't help feel totally inspired (and lust for those green polka dot trousers- mmmm!). I will also now take the time to urge you, if you already haven't, to visit Vanessa Jackman's blog (make sure you have a few hours spare!). In my eyes, by far the most talented Street Style photographer, Vanessa is able to take the most natural, beautiful shots of the most stunning clothes (and girls) and make it look like baby stuff. One of my favourite blogs right there, a constant source of inspiration.

I wish that for just one time, I could stand inside your shoes, and just for that one moment I could be you.

(Dress: Primark, Belt: Vintage, Bag: Mulberry, Loafers: Russell & Bromley, Jacket: Mums, Ring: YSL Arty, Necklace: gift)

Ok, so perhaps Primark aren't as cheap as they once were. Gone are the days you can go in with £20 and pick up two dresses and a pair of shoes, or even a shop's worth of t-shirts, however, recently I've found more and more quality pieces in the store, which could easily be mistaken for other high street shops- a great example is this dress. Being on a bit of a tight budget last week, and desperate for a piece to wear out during the week, I headed to Primark. Amongst the masses of pattern emblazoned chiffon dresses I spotted this. At first I was a little unsure, having quite a boyish figure shift dresses occasionally have the tendency to swamp me, but with a belt this dress won me over. Not only is it completely versatile, made with a thick fabric (nothing wishy washy here) and embellished with gorgeous embroidery, but after buying it I remembered some other pieces it distinctly reminded me of...

(cough cough dress number 3 cough cough)

and what can I say? The rest is history. I look forward to seeing more of Primark's AW stuff hitting the shops in the next few months (I posted about it here on Sophie's blog) and with my current student budget, I won't feel too guilty afterwards.

P.S I was also interviewed by the gorgeous Robyn on her blog, which you can have a peek at here!

Maybe you should just think twice, I don't wait around on your advice

(Top: Slow Club Merch, Jeans: Topshop, Loafers: Russell & Bromley, Bag: Balenciaga, Jacket: Mums, Scarf: Alexander McQueen, Necklace: Gift)

After realising the shocking amount of band t shirts I own (two new 'uns being bought this week alone), and how often I encorporate them into my day-to-day wardrobe, I thought I'd begin a new feature, talking about bands I'm currently listening to, and the merch I'm (attempting) to 'style out'!

So, after seeing the amazing Slow Club this weekend and sadly falling in love with their merchandise and music, I felt compelled to wear this t shirt all weekend whilst singing along to some of my favourite tracks of theirs...

Slow Club are made up of boy girl duo, Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor, who are described as playing 'folk rock', but offer the genre a little bit more. Despite on stage and arguable lyrical chemistry, and singing of heartbreak and romance this is no love story. Having met at school, the pair compose witty uncomplicated songs from singing of Fiat Punto's to coming home and watching Christmas T.V. Although there is something perhaps whimsical about singing about love, there is nothing 'twee' about them. With touchingly thoughtful lyrics, complimented by their beautiful vocals, there is certainly personality to their sound.

Liv is Listening: To Slow Club...

(John Lennon Peace Monument, my fave gal pal, mini fudge cakes, Metronomy, Sunday breakfast, tea @ Leaf, Albert Dock, cheeky purchases)

So, I've made it through freshers, realising in fact, I am probably an old woman in a teenagers body (hot chocolate > everything), however I have had a nice time, despite having better days than others! My best friend Gemma came to visit me this weekend, and we had a bit of a mooch and got to know the town a little better, and two gigs and shopping trips later I think we pretty much exhausted ourselves (and my student budget).

On Friday we headed to one of the most gorgeous music venues I've ever ever been to, The Kazimier, to see Slow Club- who were amazing. One of those gigs, that despite not knowing all of the songs, made me go home, listen to them all, and want to see them again- amazing! I also met the lovely Jessica, totally proving what a small world this is! Following that, Saturday held trips to Liverpool One, dinner at Pizza Express with the new iddy fudge cakes and an absolutely cracking show from Metronomy, who were outstanding, I really cannot sing their praises enough. Additionally, today Gem & I headed to Bold Street Festival (following some kick ass pancakes) and had a lovely morning tea in Leaf with a browse around their vintage, which blew me away. After living in London, where a second hand t-shirt can cost up to £20, finding these Chelsea boots for a mere £20, and this bag for £10 made me very keen to visit again when my loan comes through (or maybe not mum! ;)...).

...and breathe!

I hope you've all had lovely weekends, thanks for the lovely blog comments regarding the Cosmo Awards and on my other posts! I'm so grateful to have such kind readers, and try to reply to as many comments as I can on here and Twitter, so thank you!

(Following the gigs this weekend, I'm going to trial a new feature on my blog tomorrow, so stay tuned and let me know what you think!)

so you think you can tell, heaven from hell, blue skies from pain

And the winner of the 650 followers ft Toi et Moi giveaway is...

currently coveting

I guess my wish list this month is a bit of a mix up of Cruella Deville dalmatian prints and 70's mod style- something I'm not complaining about, and dare I say it- looks a little festive. I'm absolutely in love with this seasons dalmatian print, and am dying to get myself something from the Topshop Unique collection I love the fact it's not just the dog print, but the shapes of dogs too, stirring it up a little bit! I also love this Dahlia dress, as although it's not exactly dalmatian print, the black and white polka dot pattern is so versatile and I can just imagine it with some black tights, cute brogues and a lovely bowler (as styled above).

I'm also loving the whole 70's mod rocker thing that's happening this season. Although I haven't been daring enough to delve into hounds tooth print, I love the clean cut silhouettes of dresses and skirts with heavy brothel creepers, like these ones from PPQ which I ADORE, just wouldn't really know how to style, bar a pair of skin tight leather trousers hmm...

What trends are you coveting for this month?

P.S if you get the chance please still vote for me in the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards under 'New Fashion Blog', I hate to go on and be a pest but it would mean so much if you could- thank you!

A Girl Can Dream: Currently Coveting

So, if you follow me on Twitter, read my Facebook page or by chance heard my squealing throughout the town then you'll probably already know that I've been shortlisted for the Cosmopolitan blog awards 2011, and I cannot even describe in words how grateful I am that you guys have taken my little blog this far, and never expected anything like this! I've been shortlisted under 'New Fashion Blog', and with such incredible competition, I am truly thrilled and honoured to have made it up there! If you would like to vote for me, you can do so here, and it would mean the absolute world to me! There are some outstanding blogs in all categories up for nomination, so I recommend you check them out when you're there! Thank you so much again, I am over the moon! (I'll stop now before this gets a little Oscar speech like...)

I think me and this cat were in parrallel last night...

Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2011!

(Coat: Topshop, Blouse: New Look, Skirt: C/O Select, Belt: Vintage, Bag: Mulberry, Shoes: Russell & Bromley)

(After spending approximately 3 hours trying to upload this photo and correctly size this photo somewhere I've done it! The internet connection in my new room is plug in and is prone to breaking out every now and then, so it can be a little testing!)

Hello! It feels strange not having posted in two days! I know that's not a great deal of time, but having so much time on my hands I've been able to post everyday, and suddenly everything has gone into an overwhelming overdrive so I've been a little tight for time!

Anyway! I'm all moved in in Liverpool! Thank you for all your lovely well wishes and tweets for my move! It's so strange being so far from home, and I've been feeling a little under the weather and homesick, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time until I'm feeling my perky self again! I've had a small browse of the city, but still have so much to see and explore, so I'm quite looking forward to having a proper wander during the week! Do you know of any lovely places in Liverpool? Any reassuring 'moving out' stories?

I also recently received a beautifully wrapped parcel from the team at Select, and was lucky enough to be sent this beautiful pleated spotty skirt! I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fabric, and how it perfectly clinched the waist- without necessarily needing a belt. Additionally, it's a steal on the website at a mere £6 (yes you heard correctly!), so for such a bargain I was pretty blown away!

Anyhow, I'm going to try and post as much as possible, (unfortunately without the outside outfit posts) and will try and stay in the loop- it's amazing how many blogs I had to catch up on after just a day of not checking!

Hope you're all having a nice Monday!

Home is wherever I'm with you

(Top: French Connection, Jeans: Whistles, Bag: Mulberry, Loafers: Russell & Bromley, Necklace: gift)

*Now, if all goes according to plan, and my inner techno wizard shines through, this scheduled post will publish when I am on the train to Liverpool about to move in- so it's probably best this is scheduled, I'm probably a nervous wreck at present!*

Anyway, I bought these jeans on Thursday whilst hitting Covent Garden with the very stylish Nanny P, and to be perfectly fair I couldn't quite believe I'd finally found a pair that fitted! After buying Pippa jeans from Topshop several years ago, and them fortunately seeing me through til now, they'd been my favourite pair. However, Topshop had to go and discontinue them, making softer 'Jamie' jeans instead- a jean that, put it this way, makes my legs resemble that of a rugby player in tight jeans, not the look I'm after on this occasion! After venturing into Whistles to admire the beautifully cut blouses and sharp suits I noticed a table of jeans, and by chance picked up this gorgeous berry pair to try on, and well- the rest is history! They're not too tight, and I know I'll get a lot of use out of them in the coming months!

Have you bought any winter staples lately? Found any amazing jeans?

If I was young, I'd flee this town I'd bury my dreams underground

With the whole collection oozing seventies rock chick, mod style, 'back to school chic' and Alexa's androgynous charm- all sprinkled in some of this seasons hottest prints, Alexa vs Madwell pt 2 is sure to go down a treat once again. The collection launches September 22nd- does anyone fancy shipping me some of these bad boys over? Who knew palm trees could be so cool.

Alexa Chung for Madewell pt 2

I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to all my followers, new and old. After reaching a slightly overwhelming 650 (1) followers, I thought I'd launch a celebratory give away as a thank you, and as I was lucky enough to be given a gorgeous gift for my followers courtesy of the gorgeous French/Aussie brand Toi et Moi! I can't quite believe I've reached this many, and you all listen to my ramblings and look and my awkward posing- but I appreciate it to no end and I can't thank my readers enough! Anyway, before I go off on one, here's what you have to do to enter!

- Be a follower of my blog & leave a comment on this post with a means of contact if you win!

and, well that's it! It's a little thank you for being such loyal readers, plus the top is just a snippet of some of the amazing stuff Toi et Moi have to offer, so I do suggest you check out their new collection here (you can also see it in the flesh in Harvey Nicks- cool eh?)

Giveaway ends Friday 23rd September 12:00 GMT and is open to all readers! So get entering!

Good luck!

650 Followers Giveaway ft Toi et Moi!

(Jumper: Topshop, Jeans; Topshop, Loafers: Russell & Bromley, Bag: Balenciaga, Scarf: Alexander McQueen)

Hello! Considering I was on a daily posting system, I seem to have gone moderately AWOL, so I apologise for that! I've had a busy few days, filled with uni prep, goodbye dinners and sandwiches- as well as mild panic for the coming week, but I've got a few posts lined up, including a 651 followers giveaway (and a HUGE thank you to my readers) so fret not friends! I also need to try and snap up some decent outfit pictures before I move, so you can make the most of my mum's photography before it goes to webcam/self timer shots, le sigh.

Also, for those who have asked, I am indeed in this month's issue of Company! Looking fabulously awkward in some crazay/amazing clothes- but there nonetheless (mini moment of fame) so if you fancy some shits and giggles have a look :)!

I hope you're all having a good week!

P.S, I've added some more stuff to sell, have a peek here and email me if you see anything you're interested in!

Always use humour as your therapy

And the winner of The Polka Dot Shop giveaway is...

With the start of university looming, last minute preparations under way and after purchasing nearly every style of kitchen equipment possible, it has finally dawned on me that the one thing that I probably could do with is a fail-safe tote bag. This doesn't just apply to my university needs, my mum uses one of mine every day on her way to work for the oddly shaped items and big notebooks that her normal bag simply won't cater for. Additionally, after spending endless pounds on books, home bits, food, deposits etc.. I'm in no way to buy a big pricey bag (my Mulberry filled that criteria thank you very much) so an affordable replaceable bag that can carry books and folders seems like the perfect thing.

The thing with a nice tote, is that although they may not be necessarily weather savvy and may not last forever, unlike most bags they come with some beautiful designs illustrated onto them- making them all the more fun to purchase and pick a truly unique piece. Below, after trawling Esty (a time consuming and v. enjoyable past time) I have selected my top totes! Which is your favourite? Have you seen any gorgeous totes on the 'net?

A Girl Can Dream: Tote Bags

(Dress: C/O Inlovewithfashion, Shoes: Office, Belt: Vintage)

Hello! I hope you're all having lovely weekends! I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself for being able to post pretty much every day this week, although with the jam packed week coming up I'm not sure I'll be able to maintain it- so make the most of this special treatment ;)!

Anyway, as you can probably imagine I had an enormous amount of fun taking the photos for this outfit, as this dress is THE most fun thing to wear very swishy (-what are you? five?-) and I can imagine it will make a nice change from a LBD on a night out! It's also such a beautiful red wine colour, so I felt very suave and sophisticated! However, because I am boring smoring I am still deliberating on how I would dress it down for a more casual outing- any ideas?

I also have an amazing LOVE giveaway coming up in the next week or so for you lucky things- so keep checking up!

I still have a few bits to go on the shop! go go go!

I'm not the kind of fool who's gonna sit and sing to you about stars, girl.
